self help, ya you heard...
as everyone knows getting help in RA is as hard as it is to understanding the universal truths of this vast universe we consciously walk, So this thread is about how to help yourself so you dont die instantanously under the onsluaght of GET THAT MESMER!!
So lets start with Mesmer : let me hear what you guys do in RA to self help your "weak" characters.
Ive personelly been trying to find a way to heal or armour up with out straying from Domination, Inspiration and fast casting but i feel my quest is in vain. Maybe even hiding behind a tree and coming out at the right time is even a tactic ive been forced to but generally if i dont keep my eye on the tank or sins im dead.

Trying running an illusion mes with distortion and ineptitude eg. Pure domination builds are only good if you're backed by a decent warrior and monk.

Go warrior secondary with bonetti's, provides energy and also you can spec tactics and go for a req 7/8 tactics shield to gain some extra armor.

Just keep spearing all the time with a furious spear and bonettis should be up in no time. The great thing about Bonettis is that if you have a dumb melee who keeps attacking you while you have it on, you will basically never run out of energy. Also, if you keep spearing at the start, it means you will be able to dedicate more energy to heal off the initial onslaught at the start of every RA battle when everybody has a lot of energy to waste.
Edit: Ooh this is about a mesmer. I've been seeing a lot of them carry Shield Bash and I also think that's a viable option. You don't need to spend attribute points, just carry a shield when you use it.

Pre kite
Sheild bash/bonettis.
Use rupts as defence.
Ether feast is a waste of a skill slot.

- Field awereness. You shut em down before they reach you
- Kiting.
- Stances.
- Rupts. Rupt the lead attack of sins.
Personally, i think that skills like heals, stances are a waste of my skillslot. Expecially if you become better at positioning, kiting etc.
On the other hand, skills like shield bash can be extremely handy against Sins <3

Good pesky mesmers kite all the time while in range of casting hexes on the opponent's monk when the opportune time comes. Kiting is more than a 1:1 tradeoff, you're taking both players out of the game while they're running about chasing after each other(good kiting kites away from other potential targets for melee to switch to easily), but the caster being chased has the advantage in that he is recharging his skills and energy when he wants to, building potential for a spike/hexstack. If you got more than 1 melee chasing after you, you're taking 2 players out of the game for your one. This is an overall gain for your team.

shield bash is good for avoiding ranger rupts and disabling sins.
honestly, if you dont have a monk on your team, then mesmer will die pretty fast. Unless you have 3 stances.
