I don't think you would get in trouble from syncing even though it's against the rules. It's a worthless title and isn't worth sitting there syncing for it. You can do matches on zaishen quest days for codex points if you want and the zaishen quest gives an attractive amount of Balthazar faction.

so that rational could forsee a new red resign day for sad effers that can't earn balth/keys in the normal way, and of course anet might well react in their normal not at all heavy handed way if it does

The problem with this title is that it's the ONLY way of getting points in it.
I almost have R2 codex and I played occasionally since release, and I won 95% of the matches. Problem is: I simply don't get any matches.
On regular weekdays, during active euro hours, there is maybe 3 teams, and after you beat each individual team about 3 times, they quit. (So that's 3 codex points) During night times, there's noone, except syncers...
In order to gain points in this track as a euro, you have 2 options: play every day from 6-8 PM to gain an average of 1 codex point a day OR sync to gain upwards of 50 points a day.
As an american/aussie/asian player, you only have 1 option: sync.
This litterealy is a dead title, syncing is the ONLY realistic way of gaining points in it, if Anet were to ban people for it, it be pretty sad.
I'm also not referring to the botters (Everyone who got banned in the past had a bot run overnight), I'm talking about "legit" syncing where everyone on your team uses a second acount to fill up a second team, and you don't go afk/bot it.

As I've said, there's 3 teams tops, and I wasn't talking about forming a team. I have some friends which often PM me to come codex, the problem is finding opponents.
If you have only 3 teams sitting in the districts, it means that you'll face all of them in a row, and most of them quit after loosing 3 times, because it's really unlikely they'll reach 5 wins if you're stomping them each time.
It's a downwards spiral:
I'm willing to play Codex, but because there's so few people, it simply not worthwhile because you don't get any matches/points.
The second you start rolling teams (which is usually the case), they start leaving because going in and loosing is no fun. (As they'll only face you) If you tie with another team (they win, you win, etc) it's not fun either because you beat them, they build wars you (with whatever few skills there is), you buildwars them, and that gets old after 4-5 matches. On top of this, you're not even gaining any points nor balthazar faction.
Syncing is the only way of playing codex...

and the value of a sync'd title is what? just another title for people who should be 'pro' pvers but instead join cc, MATH, ty etc

It doesn't handle more value than people getting r10 HA on morning farming 1v1 halls tho....
But , the problem there is same than here : Can you blame people for doing the ONLY possible way to get the title? As borat said , for an aussie/american player , both formats are more or less inactive and thus , although it looks ridiculous, they got no other choice if they want to play/farm ....
I still don't get why they didn't make 1 point per win. It's so obvious it's one of the only ways to make the format a bit more played...

Me and my guild have been syncing codex now for quite a while and I'm not going to deny that. However, we have been reported several times and no action has yet to be taken. You may hear about some codex syncers getting banned but that is because their use of bots to enter the 55hp team, and not the actual syncing itself.

Why sync the title? What is it going to do for you?
-The title means nothing
-Syncing for eternity is boring
-You can easily find matches on ZQ days
-You do not have to sync to get codex 3 for HoM
-If you want to max the title for any reason then you're a nerd
-Not required for HoM and there are lots faster titles
-Guild Wars 2 is coming

I agree on your points , but you can't really decide for people what they should do. If they enjoy syncing , or if it's the only reason they still play GW , then sure...
Every PvP arena is abused anyway. For me , syncing in codex is almost exactly same than farming Halls at dead hours ( exactly because you can still lose due to DC), and thus i don't really care. Everyone knows codex title holds no value ...

You can't decide for people what they should do, but if you care about other's well-being you can try to wake people from their comas. Or at least not encourage systems that induce more coma.
- Religion. The existence of God in scientific terms is just as probable as claiming there is a pink elephant hovering around the Moon, or a teapot to say it with Dawkins. Yet a great many people on earth choose to believe in spite of every bit of sense and proof indicating otherwise. And they will claim truth and experience bliss while doing so.
- Anorexia. An anorexic person will experience pleasure by not eating, or a bulimic by throwing up.
- Title-grinding. Most players in this game obviously experience great joy in working on a title, regardless of what value this title holds otherwise in game.
What these 3 examples hold in common is that the participant will report a feeling of happiness(bliss). Yet it is still obvious for the neutral observer to see that neither is particularly constructive or healthy.
By rejecting science when it is confronted with religious dogma you essentially deny truth. By not eating enough your body and mind deteriorates and may result in permanent damage or premature death.
While title-grind can in no way compare to the harmful effects of the former it still represents a net negative effect. I do not deny the human feeling of pleasure when a sense of achievement is reached, yet still I put emphasis on the word grind. This indicates that the participant spends more time on this task than he otherwise would have prefered. Huge amounts of time are spent in game doing meaningless tasks, this represents a huge waste of time both on the individual and collective level. I'm willing to bet that a big percentage of people that quit this game with "grinded titles" will look back with a sense of regret, regret that they wasted so much of their time on meaningless parts of the game.
Now accuse me of blasphemy and give me my damn infraction points.
