Almost every time i have sword equipped in RA (yea i know) people start to flame me. Saying things like "noob" "paper warrior" (this is newest insult) and other things.

What place is better to run whateverbuild you want other than RA?

Think people take RA too seriously. Also i want to start little discussion about the swords and their damage so this thread wont be complete waste.

Swords are 15-22. Axes are 6-28. Why the swords damage is lower than axes or is that not true? I run 14 in swords.

My build is fine i think : Savage slash, crippling slash, gash, standing slash, finalthrust, frenzy, rush, res signet

Id like to see opinions do swords need buff or overhaul?

People want to win. If they are randomly paired with players whom they think play at a sub-par level that will cost them their victory; of course they will flame. Simply because every player has the small amount of brain power required to at least play a build that is capable of winning.

The outright dimwits who think power shot or Resurrect will win the game, are only kidding themselves.

I'm a fan of creativity, I've experimented with boon prot builds lately with some amazing success, but negative gameplay in 4v4 (spirit spam) really annoys me.

I can understand flaming people for "sub par" builds in higher end PvP but in the lower end stuff (RA, JQ, FA, AB), people flaming you for running a sword warrior is retarded...

BTW, I agree with the above comments on dropping final thrust and standing slash for Conjure + sun and moon (synergizes well with the conjure).

Or just ignore them? If your build works well and you're killing stuff left and right, then eventually their comments will be either out of ignorance or jealousy.

If you're feeling snarky, just tell them your kill count at the end.

People will say anything for any reason to insult you in RA.
I find that it is often the players that are bad themselves that tend to mock other players. So there's really no need to worry, if they mock you its because they are trying to place blame on someone else for them being terrible.

Duh. While sword is a viable option, there is no reason to run such crippled builds (unless you just like using swords like I do^^), run a hammer warrior instead.

PS: the only time sword was the shit in RA and TA was when disarm had 12s recharge.

Make sure you aren't taking excessive amounts of damage in Frenzy.

Also, as long as things are dying, people won't complain as much.

People will find anything to rage about in RA. I remember the old days, so if I every play RA I deliberately run less effective bars, because to me its a non-serious arena for goofing off.

A few nights ago, I played an R/D onslaught sythe with pet. Certainly not a high efficiency build, but effective enough for RA. People raged quit my team nearly every single match. Even when we went on a 10 win streak, only 3 people were constant, with the person in the 4th slot raging after every single match.

Sword warriors are the elephant in the corner. Their builds are actually very strong, just not as strong as other builds within the current meta. Buffing them (especially if you are talking about base sword damage) is just begging for a change in meta when swords will be overpowered and later require a nerf (which will be very slow to happen).

Critical hits for weapon attacks take into account max damage, which is multiplied by a constant. At 13+ weapon mastery (IIRC), the critical rate is high enough that axes will have higher average damage than swords against a stationary target. Of course, since you'll probably be getting extra crits against fleeing foes, that just drags it further in favor of axes.

In other words, despite lower average base damage than swords, axes do higher average damage.

even if you run the typical OP meta build you are going to get flamed in RA. It is an arena that allows players to just drop in and play. It has no barriers to ween out certain individuals so you will run into every single personality the game offers. Obviously sub-par bars will get more attention than meta bars, but they all receive criticism none the less. Just ignore morons, and listen to anyone who seems like he/she is genuinely being constructive in his/her criticism and seems to want to help you improve. As long as you are being effective, run what is fun.

Axe's auto-attack deals more damage than swords because they have higher critical damage.

The role of sword warriors (apply pressure) especially are overshadowed by Dervishes. Crippling Slash is completely replaced by Dervish's ezpz sources of cripple like Crippling Sweep, Crippling Victory, and Aura of Thorns.

However, it's just RA. Run what you want. People are raging because it is an inferior build right now though.

buddy ive gone in there with a Mo/W and i guess because i didnt start protting right away they deemed me a leecher... less that 30 seconds into the round. PvP'ers are a bunch of primadonnas who take the game WAY too seriously.

Possible reasons:
a) You're taking way too much damage
b) You're not killing anything

RA may be low-end PvP but people still want to win and if you're not contributing to that then people will yell stuff at you. Also, during dead hours when you join a balanced-looking group only to find that ranger or warrior is terrible it can be annoying.
