UPDATE:
- Registration is now closed - check for open slots if you haven't found a team yet (2 left atm). You can also register a new team as backup in case a team doesn't show up.
- START TIME has been set: 3pm UTC/GMT on Saturday 2nd of April. That means that you have to be absolutely ready exactly at that time. Please be online at least 30 minutes before in case there are any changes or things left to discuss. The tournament will last at least 3 hours - longer if you make it through K.O.-rounds.
- PRIZES: Thanks to our generous sponsors and most successful TA players Dani, Janosch, Scarlett, Jackie, Laniq and Bonsai we are now able to offer 1000 Zaishen Keys as prizes for the first three winning teams of the upper and lower division!
- UPDATED RULES: you can now find the (hopefully) final version here: http://teamarena.forumieren.com/t4-tournament-rules
- TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE: very important information, please read: http://teamarena.forumieren.com/t6-tournament-schedule.
Unlike other similar events, there is not going to be any referees joining your match (except for the final rounds, maybe). This is to make sure that the teams will be able to start their matches as soon as they are ready and to avoid having them wait for their referee to come. [...]
You will play on the Isle of Jade. The designated area (red box in picture below) for your fight starts from the end of the 2 bridges. [...]
Additional rules:
1. Like in Codex-Arena, every profession is only allowed once per group! No derv-abuse and no shove-spike, sorry ;-)
2. Baseress: If a player gets baseressed, he is allowed to join the match again, but he's not allowed to use any skills (not even natural stride!) before entering the match area, e.g. ressing from outside that area is forbidden.
3. Every match begins when the timer hits minute 1:00, [...] the match ends at minute 9:00. If one team hasn't been defeated yet, the team with higher morale wins[...].
4. Every member of your team needs to pay the entry fee (10k per person) before the day of the tournament. All the fees are going to be shared among the winning team of the tournament. Laniq (ingame: iittle ianiq), wartower.de forum moderator and Ariena Najea from guru have offered to collect the fees from people who don't trust me :d
Everyone taking part also has the chance to win an Everlasting Cerebral Tonic and of course lots of fame, honor and a winner photo!
----------------------------------
That's basically it, if you want to participate please read the full length and more information here: http://teamarena.forumieren.com/t4-tournament-rules#4
I'd be very happy about any feedback and questions here or ingame (I Mishra I). If you want to take part and feel the very unique TA-Feeling one more time, don't hesitate and post your ingame nick into the forum (see link below) - even and especially if you haven't found a team yet.
Thanks!

Sounds interesting to me, any weekend BUT 19/20 works for me, same goes for rules, can't argue with anything; altho that baseres could be fixed somehow imo. Takes you ~20s at least to get to the stand you can probably kill 2 members of oposite group in that time, which should/could lead to eventual wipe, therefore it's not that horrible to rejoin imo
On the other note, could make it a weekly thing, and host a tournament at the end of the month, or something like that. With lower fees, so you're not sorry for the gold you invested, if you're not able to atend the finals or whatever it'd be.
I'm sure there's a lot of people interested in either option, and could be worked out.

I was thinking of a weekly event too and I'd be happy to organize that if there's enough players interested. I'm hoping to find that out with this tournament
The 10k fee is also just a suggestion and if people say that they would want to participate if the fees were lower for everyone then that would be no problem. On the other hand I want to make sure with the payment that people who register actually appear on time for the tournament instead of just posting their name and then forgetting about it again :d
Others also mentioned that they would prefer if players can simply rejoin so that might be changed if the majority prefers it that way.

Starting out, as you did, is the way to go probably, if the event is a success, I'm sure people will like to see more of such events and it could be transformed into a weekly event.
You're partially right on the fee thing, if event makes it into weekly stage, entry fee should be lowered imo, also people could join last minute, or apply on the day of the event.
If people actually meet in one place to do 4v4, that itself is a success. I imagine stages will be sort of like in tennis tournament, so after players are eventually knocked out, I'm sure they'll still want to play with remaining teams gathered in the GH. Scrimmage afterall has no cost.

Very interesting ideas, sounds cool.
However, if i was you i would ban some skills ( in rules ) else it's not going to be " passionating " fights . I can already tell you people will all run warrior + normal ranger +bsurger ( or blood nec) and mo/w .....
That's personal opinion , but i would either :
1 - make specific bars for everyone ( like in Costume brawl)
2 - make that tournament happen in codex arena( or use the same skills as codex arena allows that day...)
3 - only 1 rupt per bar ( else you know , considering builds i mentionned , first to make a kill wins...)

Well I want this to be a TA and not Codex-Event I think the rule that you can use every profession only once already is a strong restriction and I think it would also be interesting to see how TA-meta would look like with the skills we have now.

TA-meta, from playing Team Arena when it died and before it got removed will be similar to this format in the following builds:
Hexway:
Frontline : Probably dervish with Wounding Strike, AoG, or as much condition spam as possible.
Two midline: Most likely Crippling Anguish / IJaFW Blood nec or Curses, with a Fevered Conditions.
Monk.
Balanced:
Frontline: Hammer or Dervish
Midline: Ranger
Midline: Blindbot, Invoke spam, Curses Necro, Melandru Necro
Monk
Trollway:
Dervish
Hammer Warrior
Ranger / Ele / Necro
Monk

I highly suggest using referees to prevent (some) match manipulation and confirm wins/losses. Unfortunately not everyone who enters is going to be honest. Even if you get 32 teams to complete, you can allow teams a break round to tweak builds and relax so that only 16 teams are playing qualifiers at a time (8 matches - only 8 refs needed).

I am trying to keep the rules very clear so that there is not much room for manipulation - and the opportunities left to manipulate should be not a too big problem if players take screenshots, I hope. Since there isn't a lot of rewards too the whole thing is hopefully going to be seen as a fun event only with no need to manipulate anything. But of course there are some things which would take a referee to make sure everything goes right and it would be good to have them, but I simply don't have anyone who wants to be one (yet).
If there are enough volunteers tho I have nothing against sending them into the matches with the teams of course.

100k says "old school" r/mo, n/w curse and hammer w/p would still roll everything.
if played by old school players, that is.
might have problems vs dual grenth+wail/ce nec thou.
imo ban dervs from the contest for obvious reasons.
i tried 4v4 in friends' ghs before and it felt horrible. i am completely out of shape and cant even veil anymore.

Really awesome idea, mishi <3
Ill def try to play that tournament, and if i get kicked out early, i'd do the job of a referee (in case you decide to get them).
Also, some derv bars (like eda) are too annoying in a 4v4 atm, but there's gonna be a new skill update soon - im quite sure some annoying skills will get nerfed.
GL to everyone

I've updated the first post: tournament rules and full schedule are now available on the forum. There is also 750 Zaishen Keys and more in prizes - weaker teams also are going to have a fair chance to win something.
We are also looking for people willing to act as Group Coordinators who will help to organize the matches of their group.
You will need:
- Ability to speak English and German
- Microphone
- At least 3 hours time
You will receive 50k as compensation. If you are interested please leave a message here or pm me (I Mishra I) or Jan (Superbad Jan) ingame.
