I don't think RA matters enough for syncing to be an issue. I've synched on a handfull of occasions in my life (like 4 years ago), and I think that goes for most people.
I really don't know why you guys are arguing over this. I could see people arguing over GvG or HA, but RA? Really?
Again, the game is dead, I've hardly touched it in over a month. (I form like a rankless HA pug once a week orso) I can not grasp how some people can still get so hell-bend over what is concidered a dead format. (Read: Dead in competitive terms)
I've been getting 25 consecutive runs on the most random bars because people have become so bad (like 3-4 months ago, when I was maxing my glad on this acount) it really is possible now to carry an intire team with one player.
Syncing has always existed, it never should have, but outside of syncing your title, there's really no gain to it. If someone here on this forum syncs after already have gotten Glad 3 (HoM) then I, deeply, feel sorry for you. Playing RA has since long been one of the worst grinds in GW. People's attitude is terrible (Shitty bars <-> Playing what you like), people themselves are terrible and the format is terrible. (The way points are given out, the 25 cons, everything is shitty)
Leave RA for what it is 2011: the easiest place for PvE'ers to farm strongboxes.

people synch for boxes now more than titles. you'd be amazed what fat money RA, but especially CA, synch abuse gives.
check it out for yourself: http://argos-soft.net/GwEstimator/in...p?search=codex
sly is codex 10, weruda close to it, and maverick just started (cdx5, i belive).

There's a difference syncing codex and syncing RA. Syncing RA directly hurts other people, and the boxes reward is low compared to Codex (where you would just resign out to yourself), HA or GvG, if you're any good at those. So organised farming RA for boxes (by experienced people) would make about as much sense as farming ectos off the banshees in FoW.
But people syncing Codex is an intirely different story. I don't fully agree with it (mainly because I don't see the point in a meaningless title beyond rank 3), but I don't think players should be punished either. (As long as they're not botting it)
So when you say people still sync RA, I must admit I'm pretty amazed at how low people would fall just so they can beat teams. Think about it, RA on it's own is already redicilously uncompetitive with all the PvE'ers there, where is the joy in beating people who don't stand a chance, in my personal book, that doesn't even count as PvP, but rather just PvE. (Go in, bash some buttons, beat everyone -not because you're good-, rince, repeat)
I mean, I know different people have different objectives, but just like I can't see someone enjoying a repetitive, industrial job -bandwork?- I can't see someone enjoying beating teams much worse than themselves over and over and over again.
I like to use Codex as an example: I oftentimes formed teams with friends to get my R3 Codex (I'm a HoM hunter, what can I say). The main issue I had with this format is that the people were so redicilously bad, it became boring grind after 15 consecutives orso. Even when people started to build wars us, we were still flawlessing everyone, it was pretty sad.
Oblig. pic:
We all left after that cons because I hit R3 codex, and I really couldn't be asked anymore. Just pointing out the sad state GW is in, aswell as my point of view of how boring it is to beat teams much worse than yourself over and over again. (We all left cuz we were so bored)
So in regards to the OP:
You can't blame the high-end community (the better players) for not wanting to play with the lower-end, be it on their team or the opposite. The gap is just too big because GW PvP has been inactive for 3 years. In those 3 years, there was almost no influx, meaning right now you only have veteran players (myself, for example) and new players (who joined in recent months bc of the PvP love updates). There's no middle tier anymore which would help new players learn, and would offer an acceptable opponent for the veteran players.
And this goes for all formats:
Instead veteran players are forced to farm new players over and over again. Not because they want it, but because Anet neglected GW PvP for 4 years creating an absense of a middle tier. (Aka PvP-training ground tier)
And again, you can't blame veteran players for that system.

Quite a problem is that the "reward" conditions for points and boxes are so poorly implemented that it encourages play that hurts the format.

In my opinion , whatever the reward system was for codex , the result would be the same as long as the format is inactive....
Besides , i didn't get why AB , the format which probably needed chests the most , didn't get any care...

In codex (originally, unsure about the current 'band-aid' change) a team had to win 5 consecutive for it to matter. Now this sort of worked in RA because RA would give a randomly good team composition enough randomly bad team compositions to farm. In CA all teams enter on the same footing. Expecting 5 consecutive, in this situation, before anything matters as far as rewards is ludicrous. (also applies to old TA)
Imagine if HA required 5 consecutive before fame was rewarded. While the top players in HA will regularly get 5 consecutive, the less-than-top players will get nothing and will most likely abandon the arena. How many teams in the last mAT actually won 5 consecutive? Less than you can count on one hand, even though there were over 60 teams. In a format where teams enter on the same footing, expecting that number of consecutive wins is simply... well dumb.
While I definitely think the current version of codex, regardless of the rewards mechanics, would be highly populated, this incarnation is a far cry different than the sealed deck gvg that it was based upon.
Also yes, AB definitely needed chests added, though I am at a complete loss to think of a viable means of adding them.

they should probably add ab strongboxes through the zquest as a bonus requirement of winning every 2-3 abs

Well, considering the ridiculous reward in AB , maybe making a permanent Zquest there , giving a strongbox when completed , could be an option...

It was more or less the same group of players in both tournaments.
FWIW I log in to PvE and occasionally guest GvG every once in a while, and I've seen a couple of the Finnish guys on occasion; but no one from either of those tournaments is currently playing PvP regularly, for sure.

Don't take it as a flame since it's not my intention , but that's quite their way of fixing poorly stuff.... people wil obviously then go JQ/FA instead of AB...
However , maybe apply imperial faction only to AB then and revert kurzic/luxon for FA/JA would do ...

Just a quick update regarding the original post, though someone has changed the title of this thread.
I started off disappointed in supposedly gold trim players syncing RA, turns out they're not the core of those guilds.
In RA yesterday got a monk from [boo] with trim, so I asked if they are selling invites, to which I got a "you wish" The monk didn't understand I didn't want to leech, I was checking if there were any leechers, and according to him there aren't.
So the pictures below are even more funny, as they feature genuine GvG players from [boo].
They're from a game in RA where my random team with non meta builds, beat the sync team from [boo], gold trims were on show flapping in the wind. I only capped the screenie on next round, there was soooo much shit-talking. The bit where they blame losing the match on the ele, for putting their attunements up in wrong order makes me laugh most I think.
Took a few minutes, but in the end we pasted them.
To me, this demonstrates that syncing in RA to gain an advantage shows
a) You can't win without the advantage, and even with it, you will fail, looking even more of a shit player.
b) You become lazy and end up relying on the other players in the team to carry you.
c) That GvG build you play will probably not work so good in RA where you don't have 2 monks and a midline holding your hand.
TLDR : recent mAT winners [boo] need an advantage to win in RA and sync, but even with it, they lost. To a team with a Rit. Who people are always telling me are bad in pvp, including in the screenshot.

Let's not mention their ele built enchantments the wrong way round, resulting in no energy? Let's not mention broken 4v4 team play, even if it is random, an E-surge mesmer is still faceroll no matter what team they're against (just an example, you havent specified how many faceroll builds are on your team).
Boo are decent players to an extent. No one has the right to flame them to such a childish extent just to prove a point.
The idea of syncing is no longer taboo, it's now something friends can do together if they are only 2/3 people.
Tbh, the idea of maintaining this thread's OP is an attempt to save face and prove these things happen...
Who wants to be that you went on to lose to a worse team that had better faceroll builds/better ping than you, and Boo carried on syncing and winning more rounds?

Boo have leechers.
As a matter of fact, the core guys (and ex TAers) are quite a nice bunch, so please stop being such RAer. Perhaps some (given they actually were core) had a bad day, or they simply reacted to your flame, but I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams any of those I have in mind to go on such long flaming sessions.
Moreover, if someone starts flaming me, even I knock myself out in return sometimes. Shit RA trash should just disperse into thin air.

I don't remember anyone mentioning E surge......
I'm not arsed about the thread, I expected it to die on day one, I just think it's related.
It just backs up what others have said already, Gold trims/champ title/any title are worthless, and do not mean the player with them are any good, as I previously thought.

You crossed out most of the names, but I could read 1 name of the Boo guildie that was flaming you.
And I can tell you that he is just some leecher, I barely know him or even talk to him. He was not a TA'er and he definatly never plays gvg with us.
I personally think we have about 4 leechers in our guild that aren't g8+ or gvg'ers. And you just happen to meet a leecher, I can assure you that it doesn't happen too often.
