If you don't know the names of the people who originally achieved their wins in the respective guilds, then there's absolutely no point in making faulty assumptions based on incomplete data.
Stop it and either learn the names of the actual players who earned their rewards or don't give a shit.

'fun' for newbies often differs from 'fun' for scrubs and trash, which again differs from 'fun' for real pvpers. its a very subjective notion (doh), so you can't help if different interests clash in a 'competitive' environment that became the sole place for farming a title that never really belonged there to start with (through format abuse which was pretty much become a must if you wish to make a streak).
blame anet for removing TA.

Excellent thread/post. Also a refreshing breathe of fresh air.
I agree with you on so many points.
The "elitists" really do ruin the game, RA in particular.
RA was far better when it was a place to try out wacky builds and have fun with them, and when nobody minded that. That doesn't make them bad players (and often the wacky builds work prettty well), and it's nice to know there are others who are playing for fun and not just for wins and glad points, but that doesn't make us bad players just because we want to do something different (I had the a high enough rank to get the Trophy in HoM before the HoM even existed anyway, so it's very much all about having fun for me too).
I hope I get to play alongside some of you guys in RA sometime, it'll be a refreshing breathe of fresh air from the usual crowd. Nice to know there is still like-minded players about, they seem a rarity these days.

As urania stated, "fun" is subjective. You say that someone can't have fun at the expense of yourself when that your notion of "fun" may very well be at the expense of someone else's "fun". In short, there is nothing wrong with someone playing the game for their notion of "fun", so long as that notion isn't malicious.

There are a total of zero players that played in the GWWC that still play guild wars in 2k11. I would be glad to have someone prove me wrong, but I don't think that this is an exaggeration

Quick update:
I have turned a new leaf, I am the cheery para/(insert other profession here) now in RA
My new goal is to get 25 on my para, I'm going with damage, 14 spear turret kind of build, and it's a lot of fun.
Struggled tonight to get 5 in a row, let alone 25, but I will keep on trying.
Thanks too for the contributions from the pvp crowd at QQ, I recognize some names, you wont know me as I just lurk.

Paragon might well be my favourite profession also. That doesn't change the fact that they're next-to-useless in a 4v4 setting and bringing one is a detriment to your team since something far superior could be in its place.
What constitutes 'fun' is far too ambiguous and varies from one person to another to even begin to take in to consideration. What's not ambigous is the the idea of RA which is to defeat the other team before they defeat you which is what the format's goal is, what people go for and what brings in rewards. What's not fun is losing (unless of course you're very simple minded) and it's frustrating to lose when your best efforts go in to a match yet you lose because someone's contribution is negligibe, their build is so tepid and they choose their profession based on the lousy reasoning that it's their favourite class.
If you want to chuck spears W/P and R/P builds are pretty good.
There's no rule telling you what to bring and what not to bring however an inate sense of consideration should cause you to think about the other three folk you'll be teamed with.

My favorite thing to do is run a a/mo with healing + running skills + shadowsteps and prevent the enemy team from killing me until time runs out

No, apparently we can't have a game solely for the fun. Titles were added to all aspects of gw because fun by itself wasn't enough. So what happens when you add titles is that people will shift their focus from "fun" to titles, the "achievement" of titles becomes the "fun". I've been against titles from the very beginning but no one has ever bothered to listen to that, people want to "work" on their titles and they think they are having genuine fun.
What happens when you give glad pts for wins in ra? People try harder to win instead of "playing for fun" with stupid builds. What happens when you give more points for longer streaks? Players keep joining till they get a decent looking team or they make that decent team by syncing. This is a necessary effect from adding titles, consecutive points and a system that can be exploited. Some will be "too honorable" to sync, but most won't. Pointing out this fact doesn't make me evil, it translates to an intelligent reply to this thread like one guy challenged me to make.
For the better players I agree syncing ra is a bad option as it meant little challenge, but now that more teams are actually syncing and the random teams try harder to form decent teams the challenge is actually greater than before. RA now in my opinion resembles more the old TA and I can understand why players who want some 4v4 action choose to sync. Obviously the people in this thread think its ok to lose so idk why you are so upset that other people choose to sync and stomp your ass. They play for points and you can play for "fun" and everyone is happy.
For the record, I hardly play ra at all anymore and my attempts at syncing are limited to 5 per year. The arena is complete shit and unfair for anyone not syncing. If you don't mind losing go ahead and keep playing but personally I don't find it very amusing to get rolled by some ra shitter guild syncteam.
tl:dr - What karla said, blame anet.

You take RA too seriously. It's fun to pvp with friends and there are times when you don't want to play a larger format. I doubt I've synched 1% of my glad points, but I'm not bothered by synchers.

I think that might be stretching it.
If it'd been GWFC instead you'll have some that at least still come back from time to time. From GWWC, I'd be inclined to agree.

Actually when RA first came out, the majority of players in RA were decent. You didn't get the 4 skills warrior or the healing hands wammo, what you got were serious competitive players trying to make it big. Then all of the pvers came and joined, and it turned into a ghost town quickly, since nobody wanted to play with scrubs. There wasn't a time when "nobody minded that." Maybe you were one of the scrubs that came over, which might make it seem like nobody cared about winning.
What you have now is people trying to grind titles for GW2, however it's pointless (imo) since all of the titles are favored for pve, or easily attained. A r14 hero gets the same recognition in gw2 that a r6 straight outta pve gets.

Thats griefing, and would fall under what I considered "malicious" fun when I wrote the previous post.

Uh, what? That is the whole reason why people play games. Why would I waste time online if it weren't to sit back and have "fun". It may vary from person to person but its just silly to say that it can't be taken into consideration in any aspect of any game.
