To farm ZKeys on the GvG quest day.
It's annoying when you've waited ten minutes for a match to face them.

divert guilds used to divert real teams from facing their guilds, who are probably syncing another 4-5+more guilds feeding rating to the main one and boxes.

When i said that five months ago i was asked to stop demonizing GvG'ers....
Well it's the same that happened in HB( and the same happens in starcraft 2 for people who wanna get achievements)... several players are getting to very low ratings and all play at same time...-- > they will face themselves everytime which means easy strongboxes + short wait times...
But well, that requires them to play the game to see what's really happening... However, i don't believe anyone is enough addicted and terrible to get such low ratings so, these would be obvious bans....

But guilds of such low rating won't be getting strongboxes anyway? (Also it wasn't gvg zq yesterday so that can't be the reason either.)
From wiki: After winning a match in Guild versus Guild lasting more than five minutes, between 2 guilds of a certain minimum rank or rating.
And from game updates: Update - Friday, June 10, 2011
Feature Updates
* Changed the requirements for Zaishen Strongboxes to drop in guild battles.

How the hell do you intend to implement dishonor in one of the formats it actually makes proper sense in? You're supposed to not resign and save 5 mins in the face of inevitable defeat? AT's already have long enough wait times to give people more, same goes for ladder on odd times.

The solution to this particular problem can't be relegated to an automated system like the Dishonor hex; it requires staff intervention.
Don't hold your breath while you wait for a resolution.

Well, an other issue i noticed now is that there is almost no serious fight on ladder anymore ( i mean top100 vs top100 for example)... There are japanese fights vs leavers on afternoon... but then it's at best 3-4 random fights on the same resort...
This means 2 things :
- either top players are smurfing to get other opponents, which is quite unfair considering what we all said to convince new players to GvG....
- either ladder is just inactive... and it leads to same problem than point 1... people will get their wins constantly vs resigners and get no experience..
It might also be because of summer holidays , but i still doubt on that since the same was happening around april...

this strongbox update just encouraged more syncing, its a not bad way of making money aswell, 8 peeps 8 boxes every 5-7 minutes and this is just one guild, they can easily run many times this amount and rack up a stacks of boxes in an hour, works up to be quite alot in an hours work, during american dead hour they can probably sync it up for 3-4 hours straight.
this applies for codex aswell.
many syncers have easily over 100 accounts each, they get it from a free source.

Yet there should be more ads in game about GvG'ing and stuff... GvG is probably the less known format in game by PvE'rs...
What if we had :
- some ingame messages when there is GvG zquest( besides, it's usually giving free rewards considering the number of resigners... so even if thy don't feel confident.. it's still rewarding a lot )
- some announcements about GvG MaT's ( even ingame emssages saying : " xxx won vs xxx on the 1st playoff" )
I don't think in the future that people will really remember Guild Wars for it's guild fights....

Whenever I see this arguement, I feel the need to step in and put the poster on the right path. It's not called Guild Wars because of GvG. Even worse, GvG lore wise hasn't even been explained. (It might have been in later storybooks or whatever)
So GvG being the primary PvP format of GW holds as much value as HA being the primary PvP format of GW. For that matter, if HA got a ladder 5 years ago, aswell as the love GvG got, the roles would be different right now. (GvG being looked down upon, especially in it's current state, and HA still being praised)

Quoting this post for being the most probable answer. Strongboxes are only awarded above a certain rating and they do it on non-zq days effectively ruling out zq as an explanation.
I'm guessing you get some 1000+ faction for winning a match, tho I've never bothered to check exactly. So with a few tanked guilds they can basically play red resign with bots and get this small, yet constant reward. On the other hand we haven't run into these resignguilds lately so I dunno.

Oh they're there alright. Just visit the great temple of balthazar id1 on gvg quest day and you'll see a steady stream of these bots. They always come in two's and take a strange yet identical path to the posts.
