Insidious is a pretty good self-heal in RA since so many sins are too dim to cease attacking when they're hexed with it.

You know, when you don't have a healer in the party, there's not much choice...
Either stop attacking, which means be useless for 10 sec( and you will die 4 sec later usually).. either deal some damage although you will receive some too...
In both cases, you end up dying anyway...

Same logic applies to the necro without the healer in his party. I guess it's fair to say that RA is rock, paper, scissors with colourful graphics.

That's why I'd rather take IP than faint because it's more survivability w/o monk

Insidious Parasite doesn't slow a Warrior killing other people, Faintheartedness does.
It's not as though the two were mutually exclusive anyway.

I wonder: does Faint prevent more damage than IP heals?

Way too many factors for it to ever be a relevant argument. Besides, that was never the point, Bring both faint and IP, throw out the rubbish poisoned heart and it'd be twice as good.

The healing effect from IP is meaningless if the Nec isn't the one taking damage. Ultimately IP simply causes the physical to switch targets away from the Necro (if he was even attacking it) and then IP simply becomes a weaker and more expensive Empathy.

Why would IP's healing be useless if the Nec isn't the one being wailed on?

Yes, but IP also deals damage, not only heals. Most melee will not attack through IP or Empathy, it can also be used for damage spikes such as when a sin goes into a chain.

Insidious -> can't Frenzy. Well, perhaps "can't" is the wrong word, but definitely using the IAS is more dangerous.

IP isn't damage; Frenzy won't trigger double lifesteal.

You take and deal the same amount of damage in a shorter time frame; a Warrior can usually afford that whereas your target may not be so lucky.

This; and you, as the attacker, can still stop attacking whenever you want. I never saw a problem with IP, just don't attack the necro that cast it on you.
