I'm sure you're right -- I'm a noob -- but just so I understand, why does having 13 in Fast Casting instead of 8 matter so much in RA?
It takes your 0.69 second casts down to 0.55 ... does the .14 seconds matter that much for interruption / spiking? I'm just thinking that most RA opponents are noobs, so they won't even try to interrupt ... and I lose a lot of damage by putting 0 in Fire and Air.
Thanks a lot for the build. I just bought EotN and I'm going to get a 40/40 water set just to try it out.

Ehm, honestly, I don't really know why anyone would need that much FC, but I just like FC, hehe, since theres all these epic fail rangers that spam dshot and shit, gets annoying cause sometimes they actually get lucky and get stuff so FC helps.
But, you can take 3 out of FC and put it into inspiration, the build tends to run low on energy, because of the spamming of freezing gust and gust.

With FC freezing gust+gust can be both caster in chain in less than 1.25 seconds. So its very versatile because of its 3 second KD which can be used offencively or defencively. Imo

you guys are talking about different builds. that gust build isn't the fast cast water mesmer that people use in gvg
also, if you want 3 second KDs every 10 seconds play war and put bull's strike on your bar

Yup
Also you can still have 1-2 people snared at all times which is pretty good in RA.

Imo, people don't kite in ra because there so RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing stupid, SO... in RA Gust > Bulls
Plus, Gust is ranged, so it strong.

I don't find bull's particularly hard to use in RA. Plus if a player is too stupid to kite they're probably a minimal threat anyway, making the (less) conditional KD somewhat unnecessary. Generally you want to build to beat the good teams, since the bad ones will go down regardless of what bar you're running.

Seconded, water snares for GOREDENGINE runners that wanna grief till the timer runs out (people in RA definitely kite, some a little too much ><). Bulls for linebacking dumb monkstomp. Both skills are virtually made for RA .

It's pretty fun to use YAA on a monk, this is better on TA, but it also works good for RA, since every team has a melee

the old MB bar with some water magic utility, if you're like me (read: suck on e-management with Elemenalists) use a high energy set and spam mind blast for spike assist and recover some energy

You'll get more mileage with [glyph of immolation] instead of [immolate].

Immolate does damage. It will generate more pressure than the Glyph. Freezing Gust is the skill I would change on that bar for RA, you want to be spending your time and energy on things other than spamming a 5 second snare (such as spamming damage on soft targets and blind/blurred on physicals). I'd put in Aura of Restoration because I've always found having your own cover enchant to be pretty important when playing Ele in RA and the self-heal is decent.

Hmm, I'd say it's far worse for TA since almost every team has a Foul Feast necro. In general I don't really think the Smite Monk is worthwhile for RA. You can do a LOT more damage and provide just as much defense as an Ele.

i wouldn't be so sure about that. glyph costs less energy and will give you more burning overall per second casting it than immolation (multiple spells (!))
also, glyph of immolation + steam > immolate + steam, because there's no way for the burning to be removed before you cast steam.

I do. Whenever I expect them to run, they just stand still getting hit and wasting my bull's. Whenever I'm about to hit a bull's, they stop for whatever stupid reason like casting an Attunement in my face (which I promptly dchop, but still I wasted a bull's >_<).
Oddly enough, it's only good against the decent players

Here's a few I'm sure you've all seen before.
Me/N - Signet of Midnight Melee Hate
Inspiration: 12+1+1
Fast Casting: 11+1
Curses: 6
[signet of midnight][plague [email protected]][drain [email protected]][ether [email protected]][leech [email protected]][signet of [email protected]][mantra of [email protected]][res sig]
Equipment & Weapon:
+Health. You should have ~650 health when all is said and done.
Notes:
Mantra of inscriptions got a bit nerfed but oh well. Seek and annoy physical characters. If there is more then one acceptable target, you can spread the joy around, but sometimes it's best to focus on one.
Rt/A - Spirit's Strength Assassin
Spawning Power: 11+3+1
Dagger Mastery: 12
Comuning: 6+1
[golden phoenix [email protected]][Horns of the [email protected]][Falling [email protected]][Twisting [email protected]][vital [email protected]][Sight beyond [email protected]][Spirit's [email protected]][res sig]
Equipment & Weapons:
Sundering Daggers of Fortitude
+15% Enchanted
Ebon Daggers of Fortitude
+15% Enchanted
+Health on head, feet, and hands, +armor (vs. physical) on body, and legs.
Notes:
Can be a bit fragile, but can usually beat any Warrior or Assassin 1v1. Try to let the melee come to you. I say target melee, because casters usually go down before your combo's finished.
Rt/R - Spirit's Strength Ranger
Spawning Power: 11+3+1
Marksmanship: 12
Communing: 6+1
[dual shot][savage [email protected]][empty][read the [email protected]][Vital [email protected]][Sight beyond [email protected]][Spirit's [email protected]][res sig]
Equipment & Weapons:
Sundering Recurve Bow of Fortitude
+15% Enchanted
Ebon Recurve Bow of Fortitude
+15% Enchanted
+Health
Notes:
If you found the sin build to be a bit too vulnerable, this one sits safely in the backline. Still work's excellent, but you might find yourself running out of energy if you try to spam the skill's as they recharge.
N/A - Reaper's Necro
Soul Reaping: 12+1+1
Curses: 11+1
Shadow Arts: 6
[reaper's [email protected]][[email protected]][parasitic [email protected]][[email protected]][signet of lost [email protected]][deadly [email protected]][feigned [email protected]][res sig]
Weapons & Equipment:
+Health on everything
Notes:
When this first came out it was really overpowered. It's toned down a bit now, but still works like a charm.
