I miss GW1: PvP.
Ah, the good times I had observing and partaking in GW1: PvP. The broken builds. The gimmicks. The hair-pulling OP builds. Etc..
...but then the game got old, Anet stopped caring as much due to the lack of funds, and the community kept on ruining things with their elitism, denial of play, trolling, etc..
I miss GW1: PvP.

Maybe when they take down the servers, people will stop complaining about elitism here.

elitism, trolling has absolutely nothing to do with the state of pvp or any other pvp game for that matter.

I'm not saying it was the only thing, or even biggest thing, to ruin PvP. It did have its impact on GvG, HA, and even TA back when it was alive, though. If there wasn't any elitism and/or trolling in GW1 PvP, then I guarantee players would've have far more fun, and GvG, HA, TA/RA, and the rest would've stayed populated a lot longer than it did. It may even have kept a good amount of players today, and there'd probably still be people playing PvP right now. Who knows.

Elitism wasn't entirely responsible and wasn't the main issue. However, the only problems from it were :
- players who insisted finding the r10+ prot monk whilst there was noone in the district
- consequences, lack of players needed( it would have been better to have more players from every level..)
Though, i played the game since it's beginning and i would say that there never were so many players in PvP. Because, along time, the end game substituted into repetitive easy farmings and titles instead of PvP. So, i wouldn't say that Elitism wasn't the reason for the PvP failure.
The trolling is however a big issue( although it depends what you call " trolling " ). Personnaly, i think all those players ruined a little my fun, so i'm not going to say how it was for players less experienced than me. Typically :
- titles flaming in PvP : " lol 2k10 tiger " , " gz on gold trim leech " , " red resign title nice " , " synced gladiator ", .....
- lack of respect : " resign noobs, don't waste our time " , reports in random formats when a player hasn't an adequated build
- ...

I don't invest much time into the whole "elitism" concept because PvE had the same issue and still does with FoWSC and UWSCs requiring certain stipulations - yet PvE has survived. That is because PvE is inherently easier than PvP. Naturally, PvP takes much more coordination and planning than PvE and that is what was the biggest downfall of it was but then again that is what made it fun for us.
