Hero's Ascent
Dead. Dead as doornail. Dead as a doorknob.
The problem:
The ever decreasing playerbase in the game with the onset of Guild Wars 2 and shifting interest in games.
The solution:
Make it into 4v4, or 5v5 play style. Cut down the amount of maps needed to reach halls, make it 3 or 4 max. Adjust fame accordingly. I repeat, adjust fame accordingly. Do not cut down fame, just make it so that in the end, you will still cap out at 40 fame wins in Halls after X amount of wins. Decrease HoH chest drops to accommodate the inevitable influx of players you will see in HA (this is a lateral change to coincide with the economy which will definitely be effected). This format was loved by many and any improvements have fallen on deaf ears. It seems moaning and complaining is now the only way to get anything done.
A month or so back, I submitted such ideas via the support ticket option..a route I knew was not the right one but merely I just needed that to get a starting point. I was told to add it to wiki where it is periodically reviewed, which I severely doubt. Anyone with any other credible ideas for spreading the message and improving the game for those who still love GW1 and the aspect that put it on the map for most MMORPGS (PvP), please spout off.
Thanks,
Spartan

Good ideas, but like i said, if you do not allow players to bring or to go in with full henchs, there won't be any change towards activity..
Decreasing the number of players isn't going to help because you need too many anyway in order to get matchs there. The only thing it will do will be making codex syncers actually sync in HA.
You know, i'm usually spamming for players to beat syncers in GvG/ Codex in kamadan, gtob or RA but i'm never finding anyone willing to play, because they know it's pointless ( basically 1 match then they stop..)
Let's face it : there is noone today in codex, noone in HA, and GvG usually consist of an ally syncing at anytime, stopping when there are real players.. It's time to at least make everyone be able to play.
It's been so long we can't do anything else than watching those cheaters in PvP.I think it would be better facing henchs parties and being able to play rather than just logging off because of those abusers..

I would support henches too. I'm just tired of going onto the game, fumbling around in Kamadan with nothing to do, and then giving up because HA is dead. At least with henchies/heroes in HA, it would be fun to get a team together and go fight it out.

RA is an epic joke of a format littered with assassins and shockwave eles. I can't be bothered with such non-sense when the reward is little to none. Now, turn HA into a simmilar number of teammates as RA minus the random format and keep fame, halls drops - sure I'd be down

The game itself is balanced around 8-man parties. In specifics the general balance is such that parties work best when backline to the rest of the party is in a ratio of 3:5 This possible with parties of 8, but not with parties of 4 or 5 (or 6 which is regarded as the worst change made to HA by anyone that was playing at that time and people keep bringing up this terrible idea time and time again).
When out of this 3:5 ratio parties either struggle to stay alive or struggle to get kills, in either case the game is just not as enjoyable.
Of course all of this is moot. There still aren't enough people. There needs to be a huge influx and doubling the current numbers would just be a drop in the bucket. It should also be very clear that Anet is not going to do any major changes to HA. They announced that they had a new HoH map designed for the rotating win conditions in the works, it just needed to be beta tested. It was never mentioned again and the three year announcement of it was the release day of GW2.

5 years would bring this game to 2007...there was still a thriving HA population and multiple districts. The issue wasn't this dyer.

If the current state of RA is any indication of this games popularity, there is still a decent amount of casual players, mostly PvE'ers and some die-hard PvP'ers, that could perpetuate into another format. 4v4 will work in HA for the mere fact that it works in RA. One backline, melee, caster, rupt..profit. Integrate this style of play into an HA style format with fame rewards and chest drops. Change the maps around to accommodate the smaller size of teams and some various other changes.
I thinking Missing HB put the idea out there and this is the best yet. There needs to be some central location where players can all meet and access all forms of PvP from. Design a map or an area where you can form up and access RA, HA, Codex and whatnot from. This would coral (for lack of a better word) all existing interested players as well as make it easier for those few new players who would like to get into competitive play.

Would it not be easier for them to just re-introduce TA? I think TA would be more popular now than it used to be before removal. I don't really know how active it used to be, but I know so many syncers from hanging out in Asia-Fap District in RA. Seems all they do is RA. I also don't see a problem with 4-5man teams. It means you don't get as much push heal, you can focus on pressure or direct damage and have shorter, more rewarding fights.
Also on rewards... I couldn't give a toss :P

That's what I'm suggesting - either introduce henchies into HA (less favorable by some people) or make HA into a TA format, awarding fame, not gladiator points. This is what seems to be the most logical idea set forth thus far.

they haven't had a major update since 2006 where they changed all the formats back and forth and added the random 3 objectives to tombs.
what makes you think they will even bother to update the game now.
the game is beyond saving, as reverend said the skills are balanced around 8v8, it would make no sense to change it to a smaller format. this is why arenas like TA was removed because they didn't know how to balance skills for the smaller arenas, they should have obviously done split skills for 4v4 and 8v8. also why 6v6 failed because it was just a grind trying to kill the other team with shit damage if you are running 2 monk backline.

HA is active, there are about 12 people, mostly euro, with multiple accounts, syncing it, silver trims mostly, however, whilst gvg rank is currently a laugh, zkeys and sigils are worth something

Your knowledge of how game mechanics works seems to be terribly flawed. The skills that we have in place today are not solely for the 8v8 format. By that flawed logic, RA would have been toast years ago. TA's demise and subsequent deletion was not a result of ineptness regarding skill balance but rather the issue of having two arenas rewarding the same thing, glad points. Naturally, the grab four and go format in RA was more popular and won out.
ANet has said that they will continue to make changes in PvP so long as the player base is supported. As shown with the most recent Ele skill balance, there still ARE people caring about the state of PvP and a large amount expressing interest in reviving HA....so I'm not sure where you are getting the whole 'what makes you think they will bother to update now?' type attitude. Try signing on the game before you say things that just aren't true.

Just saw them on observer. Obviously nothing is being done about it, but at the very least it shows there still is an interest in this format if merely for the rewards which are being hindered because of it's inactivity.

It's clearly not about the format itself, but about rewards( title points especially). I'm going to quote myself, but there is a big problem concerning PvP advertising in this game.
Remember hero battles quest : there were no quest farmers the first days, then when someone made a topic about it, there were like 20 districts of red resigners. This worked because only 1 man was needed.
Today, you can do exactly the same in GvG, 2 persons are needed only. However, i have NEVER EVER seen someone doing it. Why ? I don't know, but i'm pretty sure it's because most players don't know GvG or rarely heard of it..
Second problem is that syncers get too big advantages with 0 risks :
- easily sync and reap rewards ( even being on observer, nothing done..)
- you lose , you stop. you earned all rewards, team who beat you got 1 point at best..
- some even add accounts in districts to see if people are coming to beat them
What do you want to do when there are such players? Nothing, because even if you bother, you end up losing your time and it's not really fun after doing it 2-3 times...

They said an Ele skill balance was coming, it did. Time frame ultimately has nothing to do with anything, a day late and a dollar short maybe but it was done. If enough people cause a ruckus about a format via the wiki page, I'm sure we'd see some results.
And to the person who claimed wishful thinking, try signing on in the game once every blue moon and you'll see that there was a skill balance as recent as a few weeks back.

Yeah, but it looked like all the effort that went into it was wasted. I don't think it solved much for the ele (atleast in PvE, but they were always viable in PvP) and the response to it by most was simply: "meh". I hope it doesn't put them off renovating the game.
