Default RPG vs PvP char

Okay, maybe I missed something...

I have an RPG character level 20.
Today, my guildies wanted to go to tombs, so I went with them...

then, I realized that I could've made a PvP character, which is better than the current RPG character that I'm using now, with the skills/runes unlocked. (because I can get the best item with everything I unlocked)

I came to realize...

What's the point of RPG character going to the tombs?
The only thing I can see is if that character has a uber RARE (yellow) weapons. Otherwise, the PvP character will be better than any RPG character... isn't it?

I'm wondering if I should just change my professions (with path quest) and unlock everything from other professions... this way, I don't have to level up a character that will be inferior to the PvP character that I can create once I unlock everything...

or did i miss something completely?

i think the guild rankings has something to do with it..i think guild rankings only effect role playing charcters but im not 100% sure with that

What advantage?

1. Better weapons [Randomized drops can and will have better instances of randomizing conditions.]
2. Better Skills [As of right now, charachters that have gone through even to droknar's forge have an ENORMOUS advantage over a charachter that was made by pure PVP only skills]

More, probably. But those two are simply the strongest points.

Better skills? I don't get it.
Let's say you made a W/Mo
You unlock a few skills... THEN you make a PvP W/Mo char, he'll have access to ALL the skills/runes you unlocked + items that deal the best damage in the game.

so if you didnt extract superior rune of vigor, but unlock it, your PvP can use it while ur RP cannot.

I dont see what you mean Aiwahead... except items, if its rare, i guess it could be better than PvP item

I think the point of the PVP characters is that we only get a limited amount of character slots and people want more diversity. So if you've unlocked the skills necessary to re-create something you had in pve, then you can do so at any time. This allows flexibility making different characters which is really nice since there is only 4 character slots. You shouldn't have some sort of power advantage since you're a RPG character. The point is that custom characters can be made on the fly and only require one spot to make an unlimited number of characters.

What happens when you make 3 lvl 20 RPG characters and you don't want to erase them, but want to make another one. well, if you delete any of them they can live on as a PVP re-build. I just hope that RPG characters DON'T have any form of item advantage over PVP characters or this ability to have one character slot remain flexible will be lost. Nobody seriously playing pvp would be willing to use a gimped character, which would make the custom mades worthless (if RPG characters had some sort of advantage).

PvP characters have a temporary advantage of having access to high level items fast, but that's not really that important, because RPG characters will get those items eventually. If they took away the top end armors/weapons from the PVP custom mades, then the custom mades would be worthless, so I'd say it's better for the RPG characters to have to catch up than for the PVP characters to become obsolite.

What do you mean? Just that they have more unlocked? He said that he has a level 20 RPG character so would have a number of extra skills unlocked, which he could pick with any new PvP character. So what is the difference?

Not trying to flame, trying to understand

For example - I am unlocking Nec/Monk right now, and I have a secondary character unlocking Ra/Mes. Let's say I wan to play a Mo/Mes for PvP - YAY! I can do it, and have unlocked the skills! I can rebuild any way I want. That's a real edge I think, being able to make what your party needs.

Yeah, Aiwahead was obviously on crack when he said "better skills", but I believe he's correct about better items. PvP chars get no advantage beyond not having to level up. RP chars have the slight advantage of better items, due to the randomized nature of item abilities/requirements and the character's ability to farm for the very best. The RP character will generally be superior, but not enough to make PvP-only characters pointless.

Nope, only the upgrade items, not the weapon itself.

I prefer to PVP in the RPG mode where my work getting better armor/weapon/skills can have a strength over my opponets, but that could work against me =/.

pvp characters prevent unwanted pveing, you dont need to go through the game X amount of times to pvp with a different character.

the disadvantages of pvp characters are they dont have runes/upgrades/skills if you didnt unlock them with an RP character. They also Cant go into RP missions/outposts.

if you dont want to go through the game again from ground zero, you should change your secondary proffession and unlock that way.

however, based on experience, you'll find you wont have enough skill points to buy any new skills for your new secondary proffession.

arghhh maybe my question WASNT clear at all.

What I meant is,

you know you can do PvP with your RP character.
Let's say your RP character is a Me/E
u create an EXACT COPY of this RP character as a PvP character. (create a character)

BUT since this PvP character will have BETTER runes / items than your RP character, there is no point in PvP-ing with your RP character!
(for example, I unlocked Superior Vigor... but DID NOT get the rune)

now, my question is, SO WHATS THE POINT OF PVPing WITH YOUR RP CHARACTER IF YOU CAN MAKE A ***CUSTOMIZED*** PVP CHARACTER AND HE IS BETTER THAN YOUR RP?

(sorry for the cap)

Anyway, to self-answer my question with what I learned from the past few days :
1. Rare items will give an edge to RP char over PvP char
2. After grinding runes, they'll end up with same runes, so disadvantage of RP will disappear.

so if you only went through missions fast, your PvP char will be better than your RP
if you took time to find rares and salvage runes, then your RP will be better than PvP

Hope this eliminates confusion...

how about character space? your max is 4. if you had 2 + 1 rp character already, makig a pvp premade copy would be a waste of space almost.

I might have missed that opening screen when you select RP or PVP but I could have sworn that the RP characters were to PVE and the PVP characters were to PVP with..

I have a War/necro that I use in PVE but my PVP char is a Necro/War, I love it this way and so do most others, you didn't grind your RP character to PVP, you grinded him to unlock runes, skills, and equipment for your PVP characters, that's the way of the game - deal with it.

My main PvP character is my main RP character. Why? Well, because he has better items. So, RP characters are to do what ever you want to do with them.

My 4th spot is reserved for FOTM PvP character. I rolled a RP WaEl, MoMe, and RNe so I can unlock all 6 classes skills with my RP characters.

I never meant to imply that RP characters do not make good PVPers once you are done with them. I simply meant to explain how the game was designed. And for people who have not leveled a RP character to 20, a PVP character is the only way to truely PVP with their build.
