Default What does a boon prot do after res?

I enjoy playing boon prot, but often find that after a res, I have a vulnerable 15 seconds.

I res with about 15 mana, so that means I either have enough mana to cast MOR and none for boon, or cast boon and throw one heal, but that destroys my effectiveness in the long term.

What do you more experienced monks do after you res?

If you want my opinion, you run like hell until you have enough energy to set back up and re-enter the fray. When I kill a monk with my thumper, I camp his body, knowing that he will get rez priority, and wail on him again as soon as he gets back on his feet. I've many times made an opposing team waste all 3 rez sigs in about 30-40 seconds time becasue they didn't try to move me from the monk before rezzing him. Not to mention the monk immediately tried to get back into the game when he had very little energy and was totally vulnerable. If you can get an Inspired Hex or Drain Enchantment off right away, that's instant energy to get back into business. Otherwise get out of the hot zone as best you can. 4 pips will regen you pretty fast, at least to a workable energy level. I'm not sure using MoR immediately is wise, since you could get hit by Shatter and be left with low health and energy right off the top.

Don't like being screwed by getting ressed? Use Energy Drain.

What I see people do a lot is pop an MoR and hope to god that it does get drained or something, because then it's instant energy.

or right before you die, switch to a -energy set, then when you get rezzed, switch to your normal set for more energy but i hardly have the time to do that when i get spiked -_-

That's what I do (the rare times I get owned )
1) Curse on the mike and blame it on the other monk: ESSENTIAL, it helps you re-boost your self confidence and make your mate feel guilty for not saving your poor bum.
2) Blame it on the opposing team as well for using a build which is obivously broken if they were able to kill you
3) Switch to your +15/-1 set and cast boon+mantra and switch back and forth when heals are needed
4) Wait patiently until you're back to full energy

Technically eight energy, since you were going to have to spend 5 energy to put up boon either way. Agree, however, that this is definately not the way to go for TA.

IMO for TA, energy drain >>> mantra of recall. If you're still a hardcore mantra user in TA and unwilling to adapt, then use your secondary energy management skill such as drain enchantment or inspired hex (if you're lucky and your opposition is using hexes). Also, during your rez and the several seconds afterward, your whole team should be mitigating damage through kiting and interruption to reduce the pressure on you when you are rezzed. Certainly your team should not be allowing this to happen to you as a monk:

I use MoR for TA and im not a spectacular monk, but i can play the role. The most important thing is knowing when you are going down and switching to a lower energy set. Being cocky and thinking you can live with 3hp and a warrior on your ass is just dumb. Switch sets and rez in a decent shape, if at all possible try to cover your mor with boon at the beginning, cause if boon gets stripped its easier to function then without mor for 20 secs.

People, it's GOOD if MoR gets stripped right as you res. If it gets stripped then it's instant energy.

sorry I forgot. Edit:
1. Curse on the mike and blame it on the rest of your team for not helping you: ESSENTIAL, it helps you re-boost your self confidence and make your mates feel guilty for not saving your poor bum. If you don't have a mike, take some time to type out your disappointment in team chat (make sure your mates don't have any bad words filter or the outcome will be severely affected). If you happen to die while you're typing it's not a big deal, it's obviously their fault again. Wait for another res, and repeat the process, possibly with even more cursig.

ummm... when you lose MOR you get the enrgy. it doesnt matter how you lose it... as soon as your ressed youll have about 15 energy. Cast MoR and CoP is off. That will give an 8 energy gain right off the bat. Not much.. but enough to work with.

I absolutely hate it when you cast MoR a few seconds before you get spiked. So when you res, you don't have the option to cast it, just to switch to your higher energy set and wait for the inevitable energy depletion.

Whenever this happens, i usually reason the match is lost.

E-drain is good but requires a few seconds for you to scroll through till your find a decent target e.g. E/Mo, cast it then your rolling (or then you have to cast boon as well). That could be about 5 seconds where your helpless, which is bad if your team mates are under pressure.

Imo if you think your gonna die, save MoRecall, switch to low energy set (paper fan ftw) die gracefully then cast MoRecall instantly after ressing.

Of course if you res and immediately start to be attacked, after casting MoRecall and boon, CoPing isn't a bad option because you may not gain as much energy as normal but you get a beast of a heal from it (80 x 2 = 160) which could be life saving. To avoid this imo, kite and allow natural regen to give you a boost. Alternatively with your DP, you could risk using prot spirit so you take flip all damage but thats always a risky strategy.

E drain is nice I must say, but while in TA and RA, if attacks were focused on me, I was finished. But with MoR with CoP I can take the brunt of attacks and hexes especailly when I have Migraine, Poison, Deep Wound, and all that good stuff coming my way.

But what to do when you get resurrected? I really like the switching to lower energy weapons idea, I honestly didn't really think of doing that even though I heard a lot of people talking about it. Throwing an Inspired Hex has saved me a lot of times.

Edrain if you got it, but I'll stick with MoR for the long run.
