Default Kurzicks are really pwning up the place today (56k Warning)

Check out the AB line and map. That's way more territory than I've ever seen my Kurzicks take before. How did we manage that? I got to play a new AB map out of it (new to me anyway, have the Kurzicks ever pushed this far before?)

That is phenomenal. In my experience I've only ever seen the line shift one town in either direction past the temple. Something must have happened to the Luxons today, lol. Hopefully it'll still be there when I get out of work <_<

Maybe that new algorythm finally kicked in? Or more than likely a bunch of active Luxon AB'ers switched sides.

Actually, I'm betting there are more Luxons at the moment because it is taking no time at ALL for a Kurzick team to get into a match (I've only experienced one counter reset today). If there were more Kurzicks, wouldn't it be a lot harder to get into an AB?

That new map is a nightmare to fight on. Lost 4 in a row before finally winning one. The luxons get a huge defensive citadel complete with a million NPCs on the walls, and we have to bust our way in with powder kegs. Fun to have a new map to play at last though

Yeah, winning on that map is a true sense of victory.

Do you guys remember when Crusaders broke up a few months ago and the Kurzicks had Cavalon encircled? Good times.

TIPS

heh
  • Drop kegs near the other team, they cause knockdown and set people on fire for a one sec.
  • Don't directly assualt the middle Luxon base, its not easy. First take the two nothern res shrines and the 4 capture points.
  • Use Kegs to take out gates.
  • When assault the central base try to all stick together, single people will be killed very quickly by all the Spiking NPCs on the base walls.
  • Kurzicks remember don't go near the Red Base spawn point, instant kill NPCs are on the base walls.

The next map update is in 1 hour, BTW.

From what I can tell, the Kurzicks are tearing it up.

On another random note. Kurzicks get a cheeky head-start on this map.

If you spawn at the north starting area, you can walk about capping points BEFORE the match even begins.

lol

Ok, so consider me a total noob/newb or whatever you want to call me, but I've been playing GW:F since it came out and still don't understand the AB's and that red/blue colored line. I didn't even know it moved at all.....

So my question is this, can someone explain it to me? When I need faction points, I do the Fort Asp. battles to gain faction but isn't that all there is, gaining faction? How does this line move and why should it matter one way or another?

I was always under the impression that those challenge missions only gave us a way to gain faction, is this not the case?

Let me ask 1 simple question....does the change in this line affect the game as I play PvE?

Thanks!

So wait...

Saltspray Beach (Neutral map): Kurzicks have the advantage so they can cap dragon roost faster, making the map not really neutral.

Etnaran Keys: Supposed to be small Luxon advantage, but debatebly neutral map due to the shrines the Kurzicks can cap vs the shrines the Luxons can cap (Luxons get crap defence, Kurzicks pretty good offense) and the speed boost given by the Ranger shrine making the central rez point equally easy to cap by Luxons as Kurzicks.

Kaanai Canyon: Supposedly HUGE Luxon advantage, and it seems that way but Kurzicks get a headstart due to glitch/bug/no gate...

I gotta say again, gg ANet on balancing the maps.
You'd think after 3 months of seeing nothing but the neutral and the first line of Luxon defense and every so often (but very rarely) the first line of Kurzick defense, they'd know there's something wrong with the maps...

Fort Aspenwood gives Faction, but does nothing to the line. Alliance Battles (accessable through the Guild Hall) do. The line doesn't really change the way you play PvE, except the NPC of the towns taken over are alligned to whatever faction controls them, meaning if you have more Luxon Faction then Kurzick, you won't be able to access the merchant in towns like Leviathan Pits or Eredon Terrace (as they are under Kurzick control). This also means you need more Kurzick Faction then Luxon Faction to buy 15k Luxon Armor at the moment.
