That is only partially true. PvP daggers and most other daggers are indeed piercing, but some PvE daggers are slashing.

Yeah, piercing shields are recommended against this build, due to the fact that ALL PvP daggers have piercing damage (The PvE'ers -the smart ones- can have daggers with slashing damage), aswell as some of the traps have piercing damage, thus it piercing damage is best defence to have.

Step 1: Stop running whatever it is you're running that loses to sway everytime
Step 2: think for a second on how to beat sway
Step 3: Run that
Step 4: win, since everyone runs sway

most of the damage is from the armor ignoring skill damage, but piercing shields will still help a little.

regardless, there ain't no way in hell i'm protting while this crap is around!

I admit those new sway teams are not easy to beat, though its possible to kick theyr ass with little or no effort if you get a friends group going and if people know what to: wepon shutdow, trapper wanding, hard rez shutdowns, etc etc are all good advices you (and your friends) should accept. Btw Spirit control is good to!

have fun and dont expect QQ threads change actual crappy metagame (unfortunatly for any decent player out there)

Neither, they are armor ignoring damage.

Against sway it is far better to sit in reduced cripple shields.

Also I have seriously started to run Sup Absorption on my warrior again.

The new Sway has unbalanced the HA meta; 50-70% of the teams you enconter or are forming are Sways r0-r11+, the remaining teams are anti-sway either in design or major adjustments to builds (MATH dongway for example), and a small percentage of HA now demonstrates any variety. Rollback last weeks skill adjustments and try again Anet.

i should hope people are countering sway. Let it play out for a few more weeks to see if people are still running it despite all the counter builds. If they are, what are you complaining about? run a counter build and get free fames.

Interesting. It's one of the few times that it wasn't due to betting for the keys, that I have an interest in following a discussion here.

Just bullshited this up 3 hours ago for modded against any team that uses an HB monk. Tested it against a top guild and got it confirmed for broken.

If one of the three rangers uses this, their HB monk cant do shit and their prot cant help him either.

( obviously the other 2 stay as escape for running )

EDIT: Its way too OP. Build deleted. Figure it out for yourself.

Hexway does destroy the build, but saying hexway beats sway doesn't really proove sway isn't overpowered...

Now we got 50% sways and 50% hexways.

It's now nearly impossible to run a relativly balanced build because the build difference in sway and hexways is so big, you can only really spec against one build...

What about going back to 3 monk backlines with a PnH? PnH would help a lot against hex pressure and against sway to clear frontline and bring a second SoA. I know people generally detest 3 monk backlines but after all the rit nerfs you're just gimping yourself against the prevalent meta. I also think a mel shot snare is pretty useless against sway, a UG, mind blast, LC or taint snare would all seem more useful.

It's not that mel shot itself is bad (although it's not that great now), it's more that defensive ward usage is really expensive on a ranger and poison doesn't really add much pressure. LC and taint have GoLE to drop wards more often and add real party pressure, while UG is amazing defense against these sort of triple c-space cowboy builds (but almost useless against single frontline hex builds).
