If you are talking all Elites capping searing flames from that Djinn Boss outside of Doomlore is challenging. I was lucky and went with a bunch of my guildmates all running sweet builds so we made it look easy but I know to H/H it would be a challenge.
If you are just talking Mesmer Elites, Illusionary Weaponry is tough because the boss is outside of Rankor and you have to actually get to him. If you have Rankor np if you don't....
I used to be intimidated by Fire Islands but have since created builds that deal with Mursatt, Jades, Hydra's etc pretty handily. Oh and this is mostly using my Mesmer (as this is a mesmer thread).
If you don't already try to load empathy and ether feast as a staple in your builds or cry of frustration and one of those. Even casters attack so empathy works everyone. Good luck.

Fevered Dreams has to be soo annoying to cap since the boss is close to the end but there's no gaurantee that he will spawn.
Ineptitude can be hard to cap (in proph atleast) cause of the randomized location. One day I went to Mineral springs to cap it and ended up mapping the whole area before getting to the boss. Turns out, with just my luck, it was the last boss I came upon and I died about 10 times from all the others enemis the Mineral Springs.

Am i the only one who didn't have any trouble at all capping Fevered Dreams? Went into the mission with a guildie of mine and heroes and luckily, the boss spawned on my first attempt.

Capturing elites in Prophecies missions is just terribaed. Especially Hell's Precipice. Ugh, 1 time for each of the bosses there (5)(took two for Rurik), plus my first two atempts, plus two after the recent release, and more when helping guildies and allies. I just hate that mission now.
Also the elite from a mursaat monk boss, in Ice Floe, I think some kind of "something Aura", with only henchmen, before I had Factions and NF. So no BHA, just Concussion Shot, no MM, no SS, no SF... Took like 3 rezones to get it and like 15 minutes to kill it (actually learnt when they'll cast Orison of Healing). Also capturing a couple ritualist elites in Factions, basically those bosses wipe you in 10 seconds with [Ancestor's Rage] (Bazzr Icewing and the naga guy outside Jade Flats).
For Mesmer's, well it took me like 4 tries to get the Fevered Dreams guy... Curiously the times I did the mission it was there, but heck once there weren't bosses at all, just Dryders. Oh and Keystone Signet, heck I went, killed him, and didn't captured it! Wasn't focused. And then I did the same! But the third try was final. And that's about it because with [BHA] and a MM, and [Throw Dirt] you take most other bosses with ease.

To me, hardest mesmer elite to cap was Power Flux, for some reason I always got myself wiped.. i don't think Prophecies elites were that difficult, but nasty as spawn point isn't sure.. I'd go for some proph elite, and later some other if you get any.

Getting Feast of Corruption is made quite a bit easier by having a Drok's Runner zone you from Lornar's to Dreadnought's to Snake Dance then back to Dreadnought's again. The Wurm always spawns in the bottom right corner of Dread's and there are only a few mobs that have to be killed to get to him.
Hero/hench + runner = easy cap.
For the Mesmer elite, Fevered Dreams would be my choice as well. Ineptitude can be a pain to get to (Mineral Springs), but at least it's a sure thing. Last time I did Abbadon's Mouth mission, only one of the three Dryder bosses spawned. It was the mesmer boss (Fevered Dreams), but I wasn't after that cap =O

Tricky Mesmer elite cap. Hmm.
[Psychic Instability] - just because it's near the end of Factions and a bit out of the way.
[Power Block] - The boss hides. (Unless you have EotN then you can just cap it off a Charr).
[Fevered Dreams] - Gotta wait a while until you can "manually" cap it, and it's mildly useful.
If you were to use it, those three would be my immediate thoughts.

Yea, It's not a "hard" elite cap, but I suffer the same fate when I meet that boss. I think it's the number of mesmers in the group that's part of the problem. You can't kill them because they don't "allow" you to use spells.

I'd have to agree with that. I'd henched it to there from DWC, he spawned I killed him, but he died below ground due to degen, so I couldn't cap it... frell was I annoyed. I ended up unlocking it with Balth faction, and toming it.

The correct answers are:
1. The elites that only spawn in Abaddon's Mouth
2. Probably Ring of Fire
3. Maybe Perdition Rock

100% agree with Fevered Dreams. Luckily I had capped years ago while helping others through that mission. Also hated capping in Mineral Springs, erg.
Most NF elites were pretty simple, 10 minutes at most to cap each one.

Basically all elites in Hell's Precipice. Or, any elite that required me to start over, and over again.

Fevered Dreams or Ineptitude get my vote. Echo is easy, but be prepared to go in and out of Ember Light over 9000 times.

Or you can simply cap it in NF where you can use Wurms

Ok now everyone has me trying to remember capping Fevered (which I have so I must have capped the sucker). Where is it? I honestly don't remember any Mes elite being much of a pain. It's all the earth ell elites that suck. Sandstorm and Obsidian Flesh (in NF) can be a pita with only H/H.
As for the spawning of Mes bosses, I've almost always capped H/H and have had no trouble finding the boss in question. They have almost always been exactly where Wiki said they would be. That could be a function of going H/H and how that affects the spawn but that is just a guess.
I should also say that as a player of 2+ years my heroes have armor, weapons and builds that benefit from everything from Proph to GWEN so going back to Fire Islands seems easy now. Asuran skills with r7 (pain inverter especially) are game changers.

It's one of the Dryder ones in Abaddon's mouth, it's not so much that it's a hard cap it's that you have to go 3/4 through the mission and it could not even be there. Strangely, as a necro primary going through this pain for [soul leech] the bastard always spawned.
