There's a certain order that different effects are applied. I THINK it's something like this:
Melee:
Miss -> Block -> *on hit* Armor -> % damage reduction -> Damage Reduction
Spell:
Spell Failure -> *on hit*....
That's why for most skills it doesn't matter which skill you cast first, other than for like enchantment stripping purposes, other than life bond and life barrier.
As for this specific example, stone striker converts damage right where it says "*on hit*", which is before armor, so it will in fact give damage reduction from the extra armor before stoneflesh aura. That's how terra tanks work, they use armor and %damage reduction enchantments/stances to reduce damage to a level such that stoneflesh will make it all 0.
Suppose you have 200 armor, 50% damage reduction from life barrier, another 50% from life bond, and another ~30% from mantra of earth, you have around 83% damage reduction from your % damage reduction buffs, and around 90% damage reduction from your armor, giving roughly 98% total damage reduction. With 25 damage reduction, and a -2/-2 shield, you take 30 off of that.
This means you would have to take over 1500 damage for it to NOT be a 0 hit <.<
The main vulnerabilities being kd, interrupts, energy management, and enchant removal of course :P
