I'd think that most anything well thought out and carefully executed would do well, of all the elite areas, fow is one of the simplist imo. I was just doing some fow on my derv earlier with two necro and one monk heros, and I got a fair bit in before we died from overaggro. If you actually use a full team of thoughtful humans it should be a cinch; some people like to use con sets as well, though I would avoid them if possible, as the extra cost of the profit you would make, as well as taking away some of the sense of achievement.

Knowledgeable players and a decent team build will do, it just takes longer if the team build is not optimal.
I didn't play FoW with PUGS for a long time so I don't know if the next fotm build is already created. The tank, AoE damage and healer combo has always worked. AncientLord's build looks like a good start to me.

To my knowledge, for DoA you usually use:
1 Obbyflesh Tank (W, E, R, or D works good)
1 Bonder (Mo)
1 Healer (Mo)
1 SB Monk (Mo)
4 Damage Dealers (SS Necro, Cryway Mes, Echo Nuker, Splinter Barrage - you name it, they run it)

1 healer monk
1 Jagged Bomber Minion Master (hero does well)
1 Spiteful Spirit / melee shutdown necro
1 N/rt healer
1 interrupter w/ damage (ranger or mes)
1 derv tank with holy damage and cripple
1 imbagon
1 fire ele
this build works nicely, but of course you can replace anything with anything as long as the player is experienced and you have enough defense/offense

I believe he asked for a balanced build.
