Profession suggestion for PvE Hard Mode?
Hi's,
This thread is not about 'what is the best', I just really want some opinions on what class people is effective as a damage dealer for hard mode.
I have a friend who plays a monk, so I won't play a healer.
I need to play a profession that will do significant help dealing damage to the enemies - my role will be basically kill things.
My Elementalist failed at that, everything is too resistant and I have quit her.
So, with Monk and Elementalist ruled out, which class would you suggest me to play, with purely DAMAGE potential in mind for Hard Mode and why?
Thanks.

Warrior, Dervish or Assassin.
Warriors carry spammable KD's, permanently maintainable SY and consistent DPS with Dragon Slash, aswell as other alternatives in terms of utility.
Dervs have the most broken weapon in the game in terms of damage, a skill which gives them immunity to conditions and Eviscerate being on demand with a three second recharge / six, depending on which you go for.
Assassins have Moebius Strike / Death Blossom and Shattering Assault.
You can also endlessly buff them with things such as Barbs, Mark of Pain, Splinter Weapon, Ancestors' Rage etc.
Paragons can also deal alot of DPS while keeping SY up better than Warriors, Dervs and Assassins, but not as much DPS.
All in all, for the damage I would go with Warrior. It's only a tad weaker than Dervish, but can fuel utility more easily.

While Physicals would indeed be the best dmg dealer for HM.
If you prefer caster style play, I'd go with necro (if you can stand them that is, I know I can't). Who have the main base of AL-ignoring dmg (along with mesmers who lack in the AoE part). The main builds being generally MoPain and SS
I have little idea how a ranger fares in high-end PvE, but if Tyla did not advice one you're probably better with necro.

Well Barrage / Volley + Splinter blows PvE up, and BHA is pure sex as far as single target damage goes. You can also make it AoE though if you really want.

I'd say Warrior, Derv, or Paragon.
Warriors are good, but I hardly run anything on them besides spears and scythes in those couple of niche builds. Usually spear, as the DPS using a spear with the strength attribute is a joke. As said before, Warriors keep SY up pretty sub-par (cool down of FGJ if you get unlucky with AoS), while doing good damage.
Dervs have insane damage dealing capabilities, and have some of the best self defense/healing in the game. There are a few niche builds which allow the dervish to hit over 300+ damage to 60AL characters as well. Oh, and their weapon is somewhat AoE (but you won't see if happen much, as the range is small, and PvE enemies are always moving.)
Paragons are more party defense focused, but have the highest base DPS in the game, while keeping themselves out of the fray. Usually not the best if you want lots of big numbers, but good if you want an entire invulnerable party.

From a damage perspective? Ursan. No joke.
Oh, you wanted a non-imba class? Well, I find that warriors and dervish aren't as effective as mesmers and necros in HM, because of the buffs the monsters get. Personally I would go with a mesmer/necro combo for quick auto-deaths of enemies through extreme degeneration and armor-ignoring damage.
[Spiteful Spirit] [Empathy] [Conjure Nightmare] [Backfire] <-- Owns Hardmode.

I lol'd at the above post.
Buff the shit out of your melee, throw some deep wound and SY around, throw some armour-ignoring +damage and kill shit. You'd be seeing dropping corpses alot more than that.

rangers do just fine in hard mode. just give them a big scythe + [wounding strike] to blow shit up. or if you're not brave enough to run wounding you can run [escape] as your elite and replace wounding with [pious assault]

For invincible party, warrior or Paragon (comes with pretty good damage too).
For insane damage, a critical Assassin.

Just to throw it out there, you say you deleted your Elementalist...that's a shame.
My Ele is just about the only character I have who plays Hard Mode. In my view, Blinding Flash + Epidemic (when played intelligently by a human) allows you to sweep through Hard Mode with considerable ease. Add in an Imbagon for good measure and you're all set. Blind negates more damage from Physicals than a Monk ever could, and those are what cause the real pressure.
Eles aren't for damage in Hard Mode, they're for party support.

Id have to say Ranger.
[BHA][Epidemic][Volley] > Hard Mode.
Allows you to destroy those really tricky monk/ele/rit bosses which can really ruin a vanquish.

Their damage maybe good but drawbacks in PvE for these are:
1) Too many shutdowns like blind, weakness, hexes, and blocking.
2) They are single targeting and no AoE (which is why I like Splinter Weapon when used with these). In PvP, this is not as much of an issue since unlike stupid monsters, your smarter opponents are not going to clump together so you can AoE them. But in PvE, having AoE damage is still useful.
An Ele can still be effective in HM with the right skills.
I would go with as a necro with a discordway H/H team.

It is your team build that determines most of the damage.

Paragons proberly the best -
but tbh you migth aswell play something which you find fun, as its gunna take you alot of time to get max titles, so no point if you dont like enjoying the charchter.
