600/Smite in CoF?
This was a farm I loved doing with my hero a few months back. Went to give it a shot recently, and it turns out that Reversal of Damage is killing off my bonder hero.
Anybody know of a good way around this or did they make that change specifically to stop 600/smite working in that dungeon?

If that's not enough take illusion of weakness too.

the change was to stop the duo runs...and sometimes the sig doesnt heal enough (if you over aggro or w/e...im a very impatient 600 lol) the answer is pretty simple...if ur running it for others, ask them to bring heals for your smiter, if not, a simple WoH healer hero to keep his bar up...maybe less drops, but at least you will get through.

Had tried Sig of Devotion, it usually came up short.
Will try Illusion of Weakness too, that sounds like it should work.
Thanks!

It still works. Use the same build you were using before, but cast Retribution before Holy Wrath.
Quote:
Requirement: Now since an Arenanet update, the smiter can take damage by Reversal Of Damage triggering on Retribution. Due to this, the smiter needs to bring a self heal, of which Signet Of Devotion or Restful Breeze seem to be best suited for, require no points in healing prayers for either. Another option is to request that people being run through the dungeon heal the smiter during the run, if applicable. Retribution should always be cast before Holy Wrath so the smiter only takes 21 damage from Retribution, as opposed to 53 damage from Holy Wrath.

Oh, and you'll need to bring another healer. Nowadays when monks run this, they ask people to bring LoD and Heals for the smiter.

bullshit, it was just a bug/fault, whatever.... Reversal of Damage should dmg the dmgdealer, which is the smiter not the tank

What I do is make the smiter hero a Mo/W, lower smiting to 15 and put 8(or 7, not sure) in tactics and give him healing signet.
This way he can keep himself alive.

it's important to bond [[retribution] before [[Holy wrath]
that way, [[reversal of damage] will send the damage from [[retribution] back, which is considerably less than the damage from [[Holy wrath]
if the group isn't too large, your hero should be able to survive
another strategy (which i use) is going Mo/D and take [[rending aura]
when the monsters hit me, [[reversal of damage] is stripped before it does damage

I am not an expert on CoF but I did complete a run as the 600 monk on Sunday with a friend of mine who was saying that with the new change it is very hard with only 2 people. What he changed on his build was he took a point from one of the attributes to add some points to divine so that he had about 66 heal from signet and that if there is more than 1 smiter he would probably die. He handled most groups just fine I think he died once but he said it would be easier if we would have taken another bonder to bond him or for them to split bonds on me and also bond each other. Like others said the order the smiter cast enchantments is important as well. It can still be done with 2 though it does take longer.

Ummm another option people seem to have not discussed is to do the 600/smite with a Rit character instead of a monk. The rit's bonder doesn't seem to take damage for some reason.... the run is still basically the same except you have to have spellbreaker on the hero... making it a little more tricky with the timing. I do it a lot on my rit though and it works really well. The end boss goes down much faster (imo) than with a monk...

Take a friend to heal the smiter or take a healer hero to heal the smiter. You will still get lots of drops, more than enough to fill your inventory.

I've been in a lot of CoF groups and seen the good and the bad. It makes sense to at least take at least one or two party heals or a maintained enchant for the support smiter.
Nobody wins if the whole run fails

Hi, I've been running COF for quite a few months on my ritualist and I have to say that my hero still takes damage so I'm not sure where you're getting that from.

It is indeed important to cast [skill]retribution[/skill] before [skill]Holy Wrath[/skill].
I've been running with [skill]Illusion of Weakness[/skill] and [skill]Signet of devotion[/skill]. You don't have to bring another healer hero then, if you don't aggro to many of the smiter monks.
Also, if you would like to have [skill]Light of deldrimor[/skill] with you, you could ask your smiter to drop [skill]Life Attunement[/skill] and take [skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill]. This way you can drop [skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill] and take [skill]Light of deldrimor[/skill].This works fine.

another alternative i've been using a lot latey is to take droknar's reaper. it has zealous and +20% enchant mods on it. so you can lose essence bond or balth spirit and auto attack, you gain energy this way and you hit the banshees after they've cast RoD which reverts the 0-1 damage that you do back to you instead of the damage of retribution or holy wrath back to the smiter. i still equip ogden with Sig of Devo though just to be safe, but he never goes below 50% health using this method, even against up to 4 banshees.

I find it rly easy to just switch place between your BS and your heroes Vital Blessing.
That way u dont need a superior prot rune on your hero (unless u need that 8% healing from Life Attunement)
and u can bond your hero with Vital Blessing without getting energy degen.
U can also put points from protection prayers to divine favor and run SoD.
I've done like 10 CoF runs this way (without a healer among the people being run) and my hero have never had less than half life,
not even during the flame dart area witout any other enchants.
(Yes, this was after the RoD update)
Edit: oc u need to cast retribution before holy wrath
