agreed. I like the sword better tho because it has the potential to put on more conditions.

For pure damage with no frills, I like sword.
For very good damage (and unbeatable spikes) with lots of interrupts (meaning that it's generally more useful), I like axe.
For fun and knockdowns, hammer.
Sword is efficient but boring. It mainly consists of spamming a D-Slash combo, especially considering that a high percentage of mobs are immune to a sword's deep wound.
Hammer, whilst fun, is not guaranteed to be useful against all mobs. When it works, there's nothing better for disruption, but I prefer my skillbar to be consistently good against all potential enemies.
Every mob in the game can suffer from unconditional deep wounds and can be interrupted.
Therefore, axe wins for PvE.
In PvP, the weapons are far more balanced offering more variety, so there's no clear winner.

Youd do realise that axe can put on more conditions ^^.
Sword - Bleeding, Deep wound and Cripple
Axe - Deep wound, cripple, Bleeding and Weakness.
Unless I'm mistaken. (which happens a lot ^^)
Back on topic, I have to say I like all the weapons and although sometimes hammers can be a little less effective I generaly find it more fun.

Hammer isn't that great in PvE. No shields, plus they only specialize in KDing one foe best. As for me, I've never really liked swords... think they're too overrated. So I'm more of a axe weilding frenzy spiker of 1337n355.

^omg rofl at that build
Don't play my warrior all that much anymore but when I do, I usually run axes. I've always preferred the unconditional deep wound and the aoe damage of axes in pve. As others have already said, axes are the great for pvp too.
Swords give one access to god mode which is handy, especially in hard mode.
Before eotn I would have said that axe mastery was the best option. Since the invention of god mode; however, I would say sword mastery is the superior choice for pve, at least for group play. While I do believe swords are best for most scenarios, axes certainly work well enough, especially in normal mode areas.

With swords it is easier to put on conditions because only DW requires you to have bleeding. Speaking of which why did they never add a straight to DW sword attack? With axe, you can add more conditions, but all of them require DW first.

Not exactly a hard condition for Axes to apply thanks to [[Dismember], so the adding of conditions is no more difficult for Axe than for Sword to do [[Sever Artery] + [[Gash]...

If sword had an unconditional Deep Wound, there wouldn't be much incentive to ever use an axe. Each of the 3 warrior weapon types has distinct advantages and disadvantages. And hammers can be very efficient in PVE. Earth Shaker > Crude Swing > Whirlwind Attack is sickeningly efficient crowd control. Use FGJ and / or have a Rit hero with Weapon of Fury, and you can knocklock a mob indefinitely. I actually use Pulverizing in PVE when I go hammer, because it has no recharge and is there when you need it.
The axe attacks that require Deep Wound first are pretty meh, to be honest. You want to apply DW when it counts most (right before a kill), so the ideal follow up would be Executioner's or Body Blow, something that forces the kill. If I've just hit a foe with Eviscerate, I want my follow-up attack to be +40 damage to finish him off (I love seeing yellow triple digits!). I don't care about cripple or weakness at that point.

I'm an Axe fan
[build=Axe Warrior;OQASEZJT2kgP7gQFsiGWXF8V]
Pretty much let's me face any type of situation.I realize there are no conditions or deep wounds in here(well cripple). But I got 3 easy to adrenalize skills popping a +20-34 damage with the +80 damage follow up.Deals AoE easily enough and let's me single out any particular foe if need be.Biggest problem I have with this build is hitting C Space Bar Skill C Space Bar Skill.Seems at times I don't do it fast enough.

I use mostly sword or axe and that sword build with DS and Final Thrust do it this way.[sever artery][gash][sun and moon slash][dragon slash].
I like using hammer on my Ranger more so.

all are great weapons, all are great for general PvE, high end PvP, farming and casual PvP.
all are FTW!
all require you to know how to play properly...
just experiment with all of them and see which you like most, or just play all 3!
