Just one little tip: farm for perfect mods, not for perfect weapons. Perfect weapons drop very infrequently, even when you solo kill mobs of Lvl 23 or higher critters. On the other hand, perfect mods can be farmed very early in the Prophecies campaign and they drop more regularly.

Chest farming is okay I guess, but it takes considerable cash reserves to get started at this. Keys are expensive. And except for certain high level areas, chests tend to yield garbage. Farming intermediate lvl monsters makes a lot more sense since they are fast and easy to kill and drop what you want (perfect mods) with exactly the same frequency as more powerful monsters.

The Northern Shiverpeaks, particularly Iron Horse Mines, are a good place to get started. Solo farm it with your W/Mo. No henchies. For some reason, weapons with imperfect damage but perfect mods will drop here. You will never get a gold 15-22 sword here. But you will get gold swords with only 10-17 damage and perfect 20/20 sundering.

Salvage the mods and sell them.

2K in 3 hours? Wow! That seems very low. Are you running with henchies or something? I can make over 10k in an hour just farming the minotaurs at the beginning of the Elona Reach mission with my SB monk. And the few times I've farmed the trolls outside of Droks with my monk or necro seemed much more productive than 2K in 3 hours as well. That just seems awfully low to me for the trolls. Or practically anywhere that you are solo farming.

No henches, it's all solo. My main problem is horrible drops regardless of where I am and who I'm with. Got 2 hours FoW, group of 8, we killed everything we saw, no ecto or shards for anyone, 3 purple weapons, no gold chests, a few purple armors, and a few basic material drops. I got collector drops ,white mostly non-maxed shadow stuff, and a minor rune.

Example:
Just tried trolls for 1 hour. In total got 460g, 12 horns, and 3 or 4 <60g white and blue weapons. Killed all of them in the cave besides the bosses.

The usual troll farming builds can clear the cave in 45secs to 5mins.
Are you saying you're clearning the cave in 1 hour?

Time = money. Find a way to raise the amount of money you make per minute. My wammo build could clear the entire cave, including warrior boss, excluding ranger boss in as little as 50seconds or less (average).

I now go in there once in a while with my monk to kill stuff when I'm bored.

But 460gold,.. 12 (twelve??) horns.

It sounds like you're not set up for efficient farming o.o

I meant going again and again for 1 hour, it usually takes me 5-10 min per run and my succes ratio is around 2 out of 3 runs result in me killing them all instead of 3 and dieing depending on spawns(disrupting chop messing up mist form). Time is due to that along with recharging energy and spells... my E/Me or E/Mo (got a bunch of skills fo all 3 classes) is the only character out of pre-searing.

Exe time wise, 30sec-1 min to reach cave. Aggro 1st mob and kill in around 2min, almost 1 min recharge, kill 2nd mob(or trolls around warrior boss) same way(2 min). That's assuming I don't have to wait on the bird guys outside the entrace to move enough to get in.

I never, ever traded anything from a collector I just sold it all to a merchant, I found a good bow max damage bow as my first character (ranger obviously) and I didn't but any armor other than some at Yak's Bend until I got to Droknar's Forge I had about 20k then. I used to buy Black Dyes for 6k at Ascalon and sell them for 6.5k in Droknar's Forge. Then Factions came out and my money skyrocketed.

The key thing to making money is buy low, sell high. Or, I recommend soloing trolls outside drocks... about 1k in 5 minutes. A few days ago i was at 324 gold... now I am at 300k and 32 ectos from buying low, selling high and farming.

Since I hate farming and generally dislike PvE, I'll tell you how I get my bank account filled with a modest amount of cash.

Missions. Yes, simply missions. Buy an ident kit and a salvage kit, and hop on a random, easy to do mission. Grab a random pug, doesn't really matter since you've done the mission and don't care whether you'd finish it or not. Kill stuff, and get all your drops. Yes, even blue and white. Get them. Identify all magic ones. Once you start getting full, start salvaging whites(always keep a few slots for materials). When the mission is done, sell all the magic items(which probably suck), sell the whites you didn't salvage. Stockpile the materials. Rinse and repeat.

Technically, this isn't farming, as most of the time I'm just trying out a build, or helping some of my friends do their missions, or trying out a bonus, or whatever. It doesn't matter.

Oh, and watch what you spend. Remember, fancy armor isn't any better than normal armor - 15k and 1.5k are the same. If you don't want to farm, don't get expensive armor and weapons. Most of the time you can grab a collector weapon and "mission-farm" your wanted mods. Sure, you might not have a +30 fortitude, but +25 works the same. My 2 pve chars might not be able to flash greens(I sell them) and show off perfect gold items, but they do their job fine with slightly supbar. And I can tell you, I have enjoyed all my "mission-farming" for the 30k I have in my bank.

Try it, it works. I get around 1k per mission just by selling the drops. Even better if you ask people who don't collect their drops to just give them to you(pickup-drop, alot of people are kind enough to do it). More gold for you. Whee.

Remember that materials can be 1) highly profitable, 2) needed for your 1.5k armor, 3) easily traded and stockpiled.

I don't see any reason to have ridiculous amounts of money(ie 300k). Once you get your armor and weapons, there's simply nothing to buy but luxuries. Of course, if you enjoy fancy armor, cool weapons and luxury items, by all means follow the advice of the farmers. No way to get to those sums without farming.

In Prophecies, you will not gain gold by just questing. If you do not have Factions, I would suggest farming trolls, ettins, and minotaurs.

I agree with the above poster. There is really nothing much you would want to buy with gold in GW. I purchased all the 15K armors and have all the rare skinned weapons I wanted. I am still sitting on 1.8Mil.

All of my gold right now is going twoards getting all the skills I can(I think being able to do most any buid would be good considering how hard it is to find a group in high end areas(tombs, FoW, UW, HA) with Elementalist primary), also for personal gratification. I agree with the 1.5K armor is fine and already have enough maxed gold wands/staves that are apparently worthless, but I would rather not pay 50K+ to get 1 more %.

No Factions and as for the others, trolls I explained in a previous post, minotaurs are about the same and I've hardly ever to reach the Ettins(bird things kill me). What are the thing these 3 are supposed to drop anyway. See my other post and replace troll horns with whatever their collector is and you get my luck.(Only seen 1 green drop and it was Rotscale's).

Either way where is the material guy who makes Deldrimor steel, it seems the most expensive thing I have a chance of making, I've got alot of iron, wood, and charcole to use up(that's impossible to sell to people).

The minotaurs make me no more than 4-5k an hour, and that's if I get a few good runs. What drops are you getting that are grabbing you such profits?

I've traded to get some cash for more 15k armour sets, but I never really liked the idea of farming, unless it's something interesting like TotPK runs and stuff. At least you have people to chat with, and some changes in strategy (esp. when it goes tits up!)

There should be a fun way to get a lot of gold, without yawning myself to death, it is a game afterall.

More times than not, I find a great bargain that I can part with for a very nice profit later on (e.g. I bought a perfect +5 sword pommel of defense for 500g the other day and sold it a week later for 4K).
Wow, good suggestions, but I'd like to particularly pay attention to that last part. I can't tell you how much that has helped me get semi-rich. Here are some of my examples of this:

1) Just the other day, I got an awesome deal- I payed 9k and got a 15>50 Gothic Sword, max dmg, and req. 8!! Thats a really rare item, and searching on guru last night, i found sumwhere that that would b worth about 100-150k.
P.S. He also threw in a free Geoffer's Bulwark to add to that. I'm pretty sure he did chest runs in Kurzick territory and just wanted to make more inventory space.

2) A few days ago i bought 54 steel for 90g each, while the merch was selling steel for 220g per. Even after that, i got to lower the price lower just because i was "buying all of them as a package." (Some traders give package deals if you buy a whole set of their items alltogether.) That's especially gonna b helpful to me, cuz when Nightfall is released, tons of ppl will be wanting to buy crafting materials for their new armor, and the prices will go way up.
(Hint: Start saving up your crafting materials you find, and put them in your crafting materials storage vault. You should make lot os money off of that.)

3) Last month while in droknar's forge gettin rdy to farm trolls, I saw a victo's blade on sale for 8k. Since at the time it was a sought after item, i went ahead and bought it. Not even 5 min. had passed and i sold it for 16k in the same district, lol.

Lots more examples I can't remember, but just emphasizing that buying low/selling high has gotten me very far. The only other way I've made money is from farming trolls outside droks mostly, but I hafn't been doin that as long.

P.S. Most of these deals I've found were in my spare time, as Jetdoc said, you don't have to go looking for deals most of the time, they just come your way.

I am not one of the players to farm all day and night to make 800k although I have a stock full of PvE chars with pricey items. My advice is to make a monk or a warrior as these two classes generally make the most money in my opinion. The least boring and most profitable ways I've found to make money is through mission soloing. I am able to make around 50k an hour that way. Further benefits are that the capital is straight cash as I hate district hopin trying to sell pricey items and getting offers of 3k. I usually would undersell thus the straight money is a huge boon. Monks can offer runs to copperhamer and such that pay nicely and are rather quick while wa/mo(yes I sub monk to make money...) can do a lot of solo farming as well as run and mission soloing. I've even heard of a Thunderhead Run... Anyhow, at least with mission soloing things go wrong all the time and can get interesting...

You must be new to this game, because a ridiculous amount of money would be 10+million. 300k is doable in a single weekend day of about 10 hours (farming and selling), not to mention a lucky drop, which can give 100-300k quite easily.

I've made about 2.6million in a month of relaxed after work farming, and at the same time, I've developed 5 new solo builds. Doing this, first of all, was immense fun for me, secondly, helped me learn the game better as I've only been playing for 4 months.
Advice: think outside the box

The minotaur drops are junk. Non-max weapons, gold, minotaur horns and hides, crummy dyes, etc. Of the drops the only thing worthwhile (unless you get a lucky silver or black dye drop) is the minotaur hides. They salvage to leather squares at about a 1 in 3 or 4 rate. It's not the quality but the quantity. As someone below pointed out, you can do a run in about 3 minutes. It really takes longer to run down to the minotaurs than to kill them all.

Something else to farm if you are bored is just run down into the Maguuma Jungle solo and kill trolls, skales, and spiders. Go on down to the Falls and farm the totem axes. Everything down there is easy to kill except the wind riders and even they can be taken out if you want.

To the OP, if your drops are that lousy running solo, switch characters for a run or two or complete a mission. Maybe some kind of anti-farming has kicked in and needs to be reset.

I'm not sure if the guy I use makes charcoal. But if you have lots of wood and dust, go out the north exit of Droknar's then due north until you climb up the mountain. After you stop climbing, take the left path. There should be about 3 trolls and a group of birdies there. Fight them and keep going NW through that path. You'll come to an opening where there are birdies on the right and maybe on the left. You should be able to avoid them and move between 2 rock peaks. By the time you're between the small peaks, you should be able to see the collector that makes Vellum.

I've made lots of money by salvaging stuff into wood and dust, then crafting Vellum and selling it either to the rare trader at about 80-90g each, or going to Grotto or Citadel and selling for 140g each. A full set of monk or necro tattoos needs 300 Vellum.

To farm for one full set of tattoos:
1500 wood
1500 dust
6000 gold (20g per Vellum)

300 Vellum @ 140g each = 42,000g.

That, my friend, is a tidy profit of 36k.

yeah i dont know what builds you guys use for elona mino farming but i can do the run(get back to town) in 1 and a half mins and get between 500-750g a run as well as the horns which you can sell for a bit of dosh, although i would suggest vermin farming over anything else if you are new to farming and have factions you get 1.5 - 2k a run + the chance of shredders talons which you can sell for about 2k and its really easy
