does anyone know for sure that we're going to need these collectables? I'd be mad if I spent hours collecting the stuff and then when the event comes around you find out you need some other stuff. lol.

Bugger knows why anyone would want to do this in Normal Mode.... when it can be 55ed in Hard Mode for golds too quite easily.
Not only that, but I fail to understand what necessitates all the running around at the beginning of the guide. It is easy enough to just run past the two farmers... take a left and get to Oink before the group of undead come round the corner to kill the NPCs.... And from there its a simple matter of slipping behind his house and down to the hound.

You might want to do it in normal mode because the undead hounds and graspings scatter in HM making it take a lot longer to kill them all, and the undead have less health in NM, so they die faster, meaning more emblems if you do it for 30 mins in NM rather then HM.
You run around by the farmers (its actually easier to just kill the two patrols of undead that come down there) is because if you do run around or kill them, about 20 extra undead will spawn down by the lone hellhound behind Oink's house.
If you do want to do it in HM, I would recommend a E/R earth tank, 16 earth, 11 wilderness, rest in energy storage, 20% enchant weapon thats about it. Use stoneflesh, armor of earth, glyph of swiftness, sliver armor, stone striker, earth attunement, crystal wave and Melendru's Resilience {e} Same run as the OP described, make sure your enchants are up when in battle, Melendru's gives you about + 10 energy regen and +10 health regen when in battle, so you won't get killed by degen or lack of energy. Use the glyph before sliver armor to speed up its recharge. with the speed you get attacked, it only takes a few minutes to kill all the undead, drops aren't bad, although tomes are fairly rare in my experience.
Hope that answered you questions SoTiCoto

Ooo, I'll try that Shiney. I was gonna go E/A, but your build sounds faster. But why stone striker?

In normal mode fire does x2 damage. so a fire ele can do a lot more dmg. inferno + star burst + lava font any thing like that kills fast.

Today i had time to test several builds that I posted earlier... The SoJ monk works great in NM/HM, the Holy Barrager works great in NM (only need Live Vicariously keeps you up fine), the Triple/Cyclone/Whirling Warrior works great in NM... not great on HM cause they run and hit for alot (Live Vicariously is enough to keep you up as well here). Didn't test the necro, para, or rit build but I'm positive the Necro and Rit will waiting on someone to test out the Paragon build for me!

The scatter in Hard Mode is what keeps you alive.
The full aggro of the entire mob behind Oink's house in Hard Mode can slaughter a 55monk with Mystic Regen up in the small space where Shield of Absorption is Recharging... The scatter actually makes it possible (and quite easy in fact) to stay alive in that gap and spreads out the killing a bit for better drops.
And in case I never mentioned... I haven't ever done it for the Emblems (I merch those); I do it for the Gold Drops and tomes.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. I know a whole load more undead spawn by that Hellhound... and they spawn when the Hellhound dies. This doesn't have anything to do with the two small groups of undead running around the corner to kill the NPCs, as far as I'm aware. Killing the two patrols just takes up extra time that could be spent on the larger group.
Admittedly I do kill them sometimes, but generally just before doubling back to nip down past Oink and get that Hellhound.

And on the flipside, I've done it many times with my 55 Mo/D with SoJ ... and have got many tomes as well as quite a lot of golds. I'm sure your way works too.... but I kinda like mine. It is one of the more fun farms in the game.

Erm.... *shrugs*
Since Mo/D'ing the superhoarde is easy as pie in Hard Mode.... I'm still not sure why you'd choose to do anything that takes longer.

If you kill the two smaller groups of undead first, more hellhounds and lots of skeleton rangers spawn down behind oink's house, more then if you just go and kill the hellhound. If you use SoA and shielding hands chained together, you won't be taking any damage at all, and you can chain them indefinatly, handy for NM because they don't scatter then.
I didn't mean stone striker for the E/R build, I meant stone daggers, just to help kill things quicker and finish off the last few enemies.
Also, doing the run with my ele normally takes a lot less time then doing it with my 55 monk.

Any class can farm this :P all you need is monk secondary and a +20% enchant weapon.
Healing Breeze
Shield of Absorption
Shielding Hands
Shield of Judgment
Mending
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
As for the 8th skill I personally use Air of Superiority just because it last 23seconds for me and the chance of instant recharge is a bonus

I'm using this build with my Warrior since more than 1 year and modified it a little bit today, thanks to GWEN and the Drunken Master skill (enhanced attack and running speed). While being at only lvl 5 of the Delver title, you still go 29% faster. Now it takes 3 mins per run, and i up my drunk title at the same time.
[skill]balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Live vicariously[/skill][skill]Judge's insight[/skill][skill]Vigorous Spirit[/skill][skill]healing breeze[/skill][skill]Triple Chop[/skill][skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill][skill]Drunken master[/skill]
Healing Prayers : 12
Smiting Prayers : 8
Strength : 9 (8+1)
Axe Mastery : 9 (7+1+1)
W/Mo build : OQMV0YHGR5VDSeYkYhwfAkA8RpQVEA
Items :
- Totem Axe
- Req 9 str, -2 (enchant) +45HP (enchant) shield (stance shield will do it too if you use Drunken Master)
- Ale
I haven't tryed the W/Mo build submited on the first page, but i think this one is faster. Give it a try!

Here's a hint for the 55 SOJ HM farm, use Balthazar's Aura.
Yes, BA, the nerfed and ultimate scatter. It'll make the run at least 2x faster.
Why when it scatters?
Because when you have SOJ on, or even with just PS + Mystic Regen on, only 3 monsters will hit you while others stay away. They will even run away from you if you get near them.
With BA, everything that hits you once wants to scatter, which means everything else wants to come in and hit you and fill the 3 monsters cap.
And with everything hitting you once and running away (remember, they get KD'd). they take 2~3 sec of BA dmg x2 (due to being holy dmg).
Take Purge Condition out, you don't need it.
The only remotely hard part about farming with this build is learning to cast Shielding Hands + Shields of Absorptions properly. If you can't do that, go back to Pre-Searing.

tip - after you kill the big mob by the hound, run down toward the area with the rangers and run around a tree down there to spawn another big group.
