[Marksman's wager][Asuran scan][Finish him][By Ural's hammer][Lightning reflexes][Penetrating attack][Sundering attack][Sloth hunter's shot] = Consistent damage, you'll drop monsters within seconds.

Ranger is very flexible class in the game. When i read the title of this thread, i instantly think of it in term of damage.

I used to play splinter barrage alot when i started to use it then it gets a bit boring as either mobs are not there or they are far aparts. Its fun when u got a big mobs all ball up together and ready for u to *splinter*.

Nowaday, i run r/d, play with h/h, sweeping things up at front row no matter if it is a mob or single target. Typical skill i bring is "victorious sweep", "Eremite's Attack", "Wearying Strike", "escape", "lighting reflex", lastly, optional "im unstoppable"/"by ural hammer"/"pain inverter". "asura scan" and "im strongest" boosts the damag nicely.

I play ^ alot lately and guesss what, it gets boring too even though i get things down reasonably fast. so i go back to bow once in a while if i have a team mate tanking.

Then i see the pattern emerges, u can't play one build over and over again. U need to adapt, improvise the build/skills according to area/mission u doing and change/swtich your play style from time to time. Even though problem is that once u change few skills or build, u feel like u killing things less faster than other builds and wanna go back to it even though u tired of it.

I have this funny thought sometimes that u play with a team full of pvp-ers and use black out on monks/healers/bosses and 123 spike! on ts/vent!

Ok, i took out the ward for by urals hammer, and rtw for expert focus to help with energy. For 180 seconds the damage was averaging between 90-100 per second. But actually I really like to run this bar a little bit differently than this though, my favorite one is
1 sloth hunters shot
2 d shot
3 savage shot
4 prepared shot
5 i am the strongest
6 expert focus
7 asuran scan, pain inverter, a summon of some sort, etc.
8 you move like a dwarf (use wisely its expensive for a ranger at 10 energy)

16 marks
13 expertise

Not as much damage this way but you have a knock down and two interrupts.

Same build that i run except for 2 little difference.
Ebon honor instead of finish him that have a long recharge.
Power shot instead of sloth hunter shot that have less dmg but...
Recharge faster, cast faster, hit well.

Saw many rangers surprised themselves by their damage under "glass arrows"...but as I'm not a ranger specialist, I can't concur that

After reading a lot of these posts I do say some people either need to play a ranger more to figure them out or they need to play with them in the group more. R/D in PVE are really not all that good considering a A/D can do way better. A condition thrower ranger really helps in PVE from my experiences. A Splinter/Barrage ranger does really help with mass damage. A interrupter ranger can really really help in a large amount of Missions in PVE from interrupting Shiro in NF. To just stop the enemy from doing some heavy damage spells. Rangers I know are not ment for heavy as damage like the front liners but if they are a condition thrower ranger they can kill enemies faster then anyone from my experience with them in groups.

Splinter/Barrage Rangers have to have a Tank in their party, otherwise, you cannot guarantee that enemies are going to be close enough together for you to get the most efficient use of S/B. Period.

That doesn't mean that S/B can't do damage, it just means that you have to allot a party slot for a designated Tank/Aggro Unit, which is not the most efficient way to play every area of the game.

Glass Arrows can output some nice DPS, Broad Head Arrow is great for shutting down high-priority enemy casters (Dazed is such a nasty condition against squishy targets that rely on spells), Beast Master Rangers (especially Bunny Thumpers) can cause massive hurt when used well...

Rangers are versatile - that is their main strength. They don't have as much DPS as a Warrior or Assassin, they don't have as many interrupts as Mesmers, they don't have lots of AoE damage like Ele's and Necro's can bring, but they can bring utility to any party and deal decent damage while doing so from the safety of the backline, and with great armor vs. Elemental damage and decent armor vs. Physical damage.

In dps i must correct you.
With pve skills like asuran scan, by urals hammer and ebon standard of honor associated to a energy management skill (prepared shot, marksman wager) you can spam fast cast and low recharge precision skill and you can change targer quickly instead warrior and sin must go in melee range.

Default what are the condition builds for today?

Been awhile since playing but I play a R/ME condition spreader,

usually use poison signet / BHA / screaming shot / Epidemic / d-shot / RTW / Natural Stride / Throw Dirt

I think the best part of being a ranger is that they are so versatile... play what makes u have fun... cause really this game doesnt matter what class u are cause most ur damage gonna come from H/H so play what doesnt bore u~

Rate is the prob , even with ias and a short bow , paragons and any other class can deal faster damage ( sometimes lower , sometimes higher ) than rangers with bows. Ofc they can spike , but while other classes can "spike" with 3 or 4 skills you gotta have 6 or 7 dedicated only to that ( like sin , but with lower damage bonuses ).
The point is that rangers can spread conditions extremly well and have very useful interrupts ( wisely used by humans or fast interrupts when a hero uses them ) unlike any other physicals so ..... if you focus on pissing of the foes , spreading conditions , interrupt dangerous skills / healings and cripple physicals youll be doing a great job.

Ranger is a great class, but I'm a bit biased as it's my main toon's profession. I'm sure others with different mains would say the same about theirs. At the end of the day - talking about PvE here - it doesn't really matter, so long as you are having fun playing and you can get the job done just as quickly as anyone else. It would be interesting to have a contest to see how fast <profession x> + the same h/h team could vanquish a particular area for example, and compare the times. Point is that it wouldn't really prove anything except that we would all finish about the same time. PvP is a different story however.
