Default My Meleemancer Build

It all started out when I was talking to my friend, an old GW vet (even though GW hasn't been out that long ). He was telling me about all his pvp experiences, and he said that one build he thought completely sucked pwned the crap out of him and his guild.

That would be the Meleemancer (N/W)...

I was suprised to hear this because you think you could just switch it around (W/N) and it would be so much better, but apparently not in all cases. The thing that the N/W has that the W/N doesn't is energy. It was still hard for me to understand that a N/W could be good when his armor is complete crap and weak compared to a plain warrior.

He told me he saw some meleemancer team take out a team of IWAYs in tombs, which I've never fought an IWAY but from what I hear that is quite an accomplishment. He doesn't play one but I remained interested so I've been playing around with some possible builds.

I was hoping we could all collaborate together and come up with some meleemancers builds and team builds! Anyone up to it?

So far I just through this build together...

Curses - 12+4
Blood Magic - 8+2
Swordsmanship - 10

1. Demonic Flesh
2. Sever Artery
3. Gash
4. Final Thrust
5. Mark of Pain
6. Shadow of Fear
7. Feast of Corruption
8. Ressurection Signet

I threw it together kinda fast but it seems reasonable.

One thing he did tell me though was that Mark of Pain was a key to the build so I'm thinking we should do something involving that.

Anyone have any ideas or input?

Default Mark of Pain? Not bloody likely.

I seriously doubt Mark of Pain could be central to the build. It has a very tight radius, and ONLY does its damage to the adjacent targets. This is fine in PVE, but I've never played a PVP battle where players stick close enough together for more than a second or two. And this is coming from a guy who -loves- Mark of Pain. It's just not a PVP skill.

Now, Spiteful Spirit has the exact same damage effect (the blue-white upwards burst centered on the feet) so it's possible that's what he saw. It's certainly a lot more plausible, since it does its damage to both the hexed foe and whoever's around them, and it's a very popular skill in general.

Also: Feast of Corruption? Really? Vampiric Touch seems a lot smarter.

I think armor for this build would have to be Fanatic or Bonelace chest + legs (you want the +15 piercing, and the Necrotic/Tormentors is toooo risky with monks around), then scars for feet and hands?

Hmm I'm not too sure about the armor. I'm not too familiar with the armors, too bad necrotic isnt workable cos' it looks real damn nice eh. Right now on my meleemancer I got Fanatic...

...But yeah Spiteful Spirit could be more feesable.

He said he encountered some single meleemancers in GvG but he said the most destrutive he saw was a team of meleemancers and some monks.

Oh and about grenths balance, hmm im gonna check up on that on gwfreaks now...

Sorry for double post but WOW.

I never saw grenths balance before and thats amazing.

Spiteful spirit seems awfully nice too.

Do you think incooporating barbs in there would be a good idea?

Judge, Hundred Blades doesn't damage many targets around YOU but damages targets around your target, making it alot less efficient in PvP.

Hundred Blades is a waste of elite, atleast for PvP. Mark of Pain isn't of much use either.

As far as I can see, you're having trouble with your defence. "Watch Yourself" might be a good option, given the low adrenaline cost.

I use plague signet, for those pesky trappers. Nothin funnier than watchin all your conditions move over to the one who caused them, and its not bad recharge time!

I would max out blood instead of curses, put curses at 9+1 and swordsmanship at 9, blood at 16.

vamp touch
vamp gaze
plague sig
shadow of fear
enfeeble
sever artery
gash
rez sig

heh, glad you like it. I think that i might put pure strike in there somewhere, not enough sword skills to be worth while

i prefer pure strike, final thrust is high adrenaline and makes you lose all adrenaline. Pure strike can not be blocked or evaded for those stancers in the arenas

Yeah for arena. :P

I'm thinking of focusing it on GvG and Tombs.

Plus you might be a lil low on energy after spamming the 2 Vampirics so Final Thrust might be a nice skill to finish off the target...
