Is Dhuum Another Malyx?
Hi
I've not been to Dhuum yet, only just had chance to get the update. I've been reading the posts in the update that that seem to imply that we have yet another boss in game that is significantly easier to beat by using gimic builds and therefore excluding other professions and builds. I.e Just like Mallyx.
Is this assumption right or have I gotten the wrong end of the QQ.
Edit: Please don't turn this into a QQ about SF. We're kinda tired of it now. What i'm interested to know is can other builds and professions other than gimics take down Dhuum or do I need to bring my assasin out of retirement?

You've read too much QQ. Hes easy if you know what to do. One way is to try to kill him with pugs (aka failteams) just to see what your up against. Then set-up or join a group with guildies, friends or allies and beat him Those who say he is too hard just don't know how to play.

He does 300 damage every 45 seconds, that's not too bad. Some enemies can do that every 7 seconds. You have to evade his scythe which anybody can handle with one skill, especially SF Sins, but also the classic nuker/cryer using distortion. Bringing an Imbagon with "Can't touch this" should basically carry ANY group through the whole UW.
People taking it slow will not face something impossible, rather a nice new boss. Speed-runners will probably bring a monk or two and be done in a minute more.
But people will want to kill this new boss so there might just be an influx of regular groups in addition to speed-clearers.

Spirit spammer rit is also good class to take along. Spirits are good meatshields for Dhuum and also deal decent damage. Imbagon is the generic godmode buttom like Variety said above. If you can't fill your team with humans, i'm sure that discord/sabway wouldn't be a bad idea.
Happy hunting!

Dhuum is another Guild Wars boss. Like all Guild Wars bosses, they're much easier to kill with gimmicks, but possible with more balanced builds.

Discord/Sabway? Would that work? I'm a UW noob, but I thought it was full of enemies that don't leave exploitable corpses?

Only two areas lack corpses (Chaos Plains and Ice Wastes) - along with half of Forgotten Vale - but on Dhuum, there are no corpses to him, as you would have killed everything to him already. So to keep that going, is either to use team mates' bodies, or to have Jagged Bones.
As for if he is another Mallyx - I have not fought him, but he seems to be easier than him, however, the process to getting to him is harder (gotta do all quests, like before, then him in one go - while with Mallyx, 8 quests in any set of 2, then a 9th being Mallyx).
Looking at Dhuum's skill, SF is easy against him... Sadly.

Only... when you die... you're teleported to Vale and become a spirit with different skills.... probably won't wanna sac your team too much...
Resurrection skills are disabled.

6x SF Assassins and a 600/Smite duo stomped the UW + Dhuum.
What else needs to be said about the state of GW, is playing that actually fun? Too much reliance on gimmicks of the silly kind. I just wonder that ArenaNet does not get it.

The first group to kill mallyx took a few weeks. It wasn't even hours for the first group to kill Dhuum

I actually meant before fighting Dhuum. Unless that skill is over the entire area (i.e., includes Ice Wastes) once Dhuum releases himself.

As a new boss, I was hoping his skill sets were more random to handle gimmick builds. I know people want to "farm" him, but this is just not helping the game any.

I do hope for a real boss fight in GW2, like those offered in WoW. Frankly, boss fights in WoW are just fun (most of them anyways).
The Abaddon fight is actually a fairly decent example of a balanced fight that requires teamwork and a gimmick build may not be the best option. I enjoyed the Abaddon fight quite a lot compared to most of the others. The Glint fight was also fun, though it is terribly with post Proph skills.

After two groups failing at Dhuum(second group got him down to 95% thats good I guess...and yes we were all abusing SF except for the monks) and no successful balanced pug groups(90% of them failed at wastes) I'm not really sure what to say except I need more friends who are on/ play anymore or I need to run a different gimmick(I'm stuck pugging most of the time anyway... /failatlife)
~Edit~ Dhuum hurts like no tomorrow when you don't have any DP removal.

with his improved AI (no longer a dhummie) and updated skill, he is becoming quite a problem. so far, no teams have beat him from what i've heard.
edit: ok the frenchies [fRee] say they are still dominating dhuum

You're talking about perma teams right? Balanced teams work fine.
