Hi my first post ^^
To farm of bosses assasin and elementalis usually do the same thing , but if u need to run some to reach the boss, assasin is better than ele.
The advantages of elementalist are a better DPS.
I usually can kill the "near a door" bosses, with both classes in less than 1 min.
That 2 classes have a big farming potential, and with the monk, imao are the bests farmers.

There are also some good Mesmer builds, but it's not a popular profession with most people. I have one, but she is at present my perma-pre. At some point i will be taking her out for farming. I would suggest reading up in Guru about the different professions. There is also a builds section in here that go over the different areas where they are strong farmers. Just keep in mind, they all have a use somewhere... for example rangers trapping in UW for Ectos, Monks running 55 builds to farm scale from Hydras. Don't depend on someone else's opinions, read up on it, create a character, give it a shot... heck if you don't like it, then buy a new slot (or delete it) and start a new one. Eventually you will have a character for everything. So when you need something, you have what you need to get it. Besides it will help you get to know about all the different character professions.

I've only ever played a Ranger in PvE over the past 32 months I've had this game, so I say Ranger.
Although i do think that since Perm Shadow Form is out there Sins can do the most, followed by a Monk (Solo or 600/smite duo) Warriors and Eles have their places, as do Rangers, but Sins and Monks have more options.

For farming purposes, I'd say Ele and Sin would be the best farmer classes. There's a rumor flying around though that Perma-SF is going to be nerfed, so you might want to create an Elementalist to be safe.

as mentioned before, Mesmers are excellent famers, yet nobody gives them the time of day, they can Perma SF, 55, VwK and Terra Tank
there is nothing the classes mentioned above can farm that my mesmer cant
plus...they look dead sexy and are by far the most entertaining class to play

At the current state of the game, Assassin with Shadow Form is probably best/easiest.
But I'd say Ele for the sake of consistency over game patches and skill rebalances.
Ele will probably be always a good class at farming, while an Assassin could fall out of use if someday ANet decides to nerf Shadow Form.
My main is an Ele and despite not farming much, I know she can get the job done.

Let the big update due on the 13th Nov happen
wait a couple of days in case they messed up a little and redo a couple of skills.
Then decide
It is true that at the moment Assassin and Ele are the more popular choices as they can farm almost anything and anywhere.
I have farmed Bosses quite sucessfully as my Necro so there is a third choice

Everyone is right. Most classes can do farming. I started with an Ele and
while its still (margially) my favorite class I find myself doing alot of farming with a Necro. Monks although not mentioned can also farm some areas that give other classes fits.

The above page is a good place to get some ideas on builds. You might also check utube for farming builds to see which one suits your play style.
Have fun!
