Did roughly 8 uw runs for the first time as a famine AV/SV ranger (spending roughly 160k on new armour, fully runed and dyed) mostly making mistakes against graspings or something annoying happening.

Although on my 3 runs that i farmed the smites, killin about 12 groups of smites altogether.... no ectos.

I seriouly dislike the build now and wished i had concentrated on ecto farming in tombs instead so i wouldnt have 1ks vanishing from my storage faster than an egg timer :S

Doing 600/Smite runs - Aatxes, Terrorwebs, Smites - got about 3 ecto per run, most from Aatxes

did two runs in UW last night getting 4 ectos total. 600 smite team

first run the 3rd Aatxe dropped it nothing the rest of the way. (got kicked cause coldfires maelstrom killed forgotten Vale reaper)

second run got two from Aatxes and one from a smite. (died in chaos wastes in 3rd mindblade spawn cause i was stupid)

they all dropped to me, but we share 50/50.

we are going to start keeping track of how many of each type we kill, or at least how many ecto droppers spawn for each stage of our run... (unwanted guests and escort of souls quests spawn alot of ecto droppers...)

Rather than doing the short smite runs, I do at least 3 quests whenever I'm in UW. Obviously Clear the Chamber (those first 3 Terrorwebs have dropped ecto a few times), Unwanted Guests, and Escort of Souls. The loads of Terrorwebs and Mindblade Spectres is beautiful, and I've even had Keepers drop ecto before.

Back to the point, instead of doing multiple short runs hoping for ecto, I try to beat the odds and kill enough ecto-droppers that if I don't get any early on, I'm bound to get some later. Sometimes they come early, sometimes they're later. If you're lucky and you haven't gotten anything early on, this can happen:

It's just getting to the point where you beat those odds.

After my completely failed attempt at famine-ing UW, i did 1 run at tombs n got an ecto, i think UW just hates me :P

Wouldnt mind seeing that invinci shadow form cry Uw build btw ...

ya seems that. Iv seen this on NM Uw Clear. Get alot more ectos in NM UW Clear than HM UW Clear idk why. In one run about 14+ ectos dropped in my first UW Clear Run. I was surpised alot, are terra got about 8-10e from it not mention the ones from UW End Chest. Might heard me say this, so many ectos are dropping more in Etneral Wasteland(aka Chaos Plains).

Infested by Mindblades. Makes me wonder if they haven't just been my personal lucky monster.

Either way, to the Chaos Planes I will head this weekend. Also, Spawning Pools deserve an investigation.

Spawning pools is a b*tch, It takes too long to farm it. Chaos planes is the fastest and best option, believe me.

600/smite duo

1st run 1 ecto from an Aatxe (didn't get to smites)

2nd run 3 ectos 1 from Aatxe and 2 from smites (completed ice wastes quest, unwanted guests, escort of souls - got kicked cause graspings killed a soul when we were leaving the area)

I just started farming chaos plains+bone pits a couple days ago w/ a slightly modified perma sf build I got off of pvx wiki. I had never farmed uw before, and never done perma sf before (though I did practice the timing before I went in) and screwed up a lotr in the beginning. Even now that I can use the build perfectly, there are still some times when the obsidian behemoths block the passage so you can't get by

However, this run is insanely profitable; my first complete run (aka I didn't fail halfway through) I got 7 ectos, 2nd 4 ectos+ruby, 3rd 7 ectos+ruby, 4th 8 ectos, and my most recent one 10 ectos+sapphire. This might just be because of the large number of foes though; there are 208 ecto dropping foes in the chaos plains, and I don't know how many in bone pits, I'd estimate somewhere between 25 and 50 though.

Yeah, I need to go to Bone Pits as well. Never had the motivation to go there but with the build I do definitely need to try it out.

For those doing 600/smite and having problems with bohemoths ( either blocking or taking too long to kill ) i suggest taking ss necro along as 3 man team - we now farm Uw this way as the extra person does help a lot - also if necro goes n/mo he can carry res and be usefull incase the smiter dies.
Its damn annoying when you want to get to chaos planes etc and the bohemoths at the start are blocking everything.
Also with the extra ss coldfires and dryders tend to drop a lot faster ( if you`ve ever done 55/ss you`ll know how fast compared to 600/smite )

last 4 duo runs, cleared chamber, then went to smites and did the grenth grenth in iceworld (the 3 groupes of dryders), in all the 4 runs dropped 2 ectos, both not for me :>
i guess i killed like 100+ dryders yet, and never saw them drop any ecto
all on NM

maybe i am just not lucky? :>

Hey im right now farming Tombs and ive got 11 ectos from about 20 runs but the 10 first were not HM so i guess it could be some mroe :P i think its really great and you get and ectos like evry second run or luckyly 2 ectos from one run and runs takes only 5 minutes or less

i just ran UW w/ A/Me in HM. i did 3 runs and got 2 ectos, 3 golds and 1 lockpick. took 42 minutes total.
