cannot decide
hi
ive got a ranger and a necro.
i cant decide which one to go through the game with because they both are really fun to play.
i like doing RA a lot, and i wont be able to vanquish a lot (due to school)
i really like the interupting things of ranger and the degeneration, but i like the barbs+mark of pain ebon assassin build for necro aswell
which character would u recommend me to be?
thnx

I would say ranger, that way you can practice interrupting skills, making it easier when you RA. Of course you won't be able to practice predicting when monks will use 1/4 second cast skills, but it will help. But it depends on which you like more really.
Edit: And oh yeah, Necro Heroes> Necro Players tbh. Of course, Heroes>Most people so I don't know, it really solely depends on which you enjoy more. You could always do both.

Ranger has a lot more utility, and variety of builds. For example, rangers can use all types of melee weapons, ranged weapons, interupt, damage, pets, combined, best pve shutdown in the gmae (bha). However Necromancers are generally more useful in the elite missions. Necros are used in each of the elite mission builds (iirc).
My opinion, is go ranger. But thats baised coz my main is ranger. It depends on what you like doing. Imo Necro is better with people, ranger solo. In RA, it depends on the current Meta. Back during the Sin heavy meta (in RA) necros were extremely powerful (anti melee). However, in a caster heavy meta (eg back when spirit spammers were everywhere rangers were imo better.
Finally, Necros have soul reaping which is in and of itself a reason to go necro if you like using high energy spells.

Necro, because later on when you end up doing high end things you will realize that ranger is cool 'till every thing starts getting .5s cast time.
Not putting down rangers, but if you can only have one char to really go on id say make it necro.

would say necro. if you re planning to do even a small bit more than completing quests and missions, then as a necro, you gonna find parties way easier (friend has ranger primary, and had quite a pain till he did his monument from the deep)

If you enjoy playing both, pick your favourite. It's a hard choice to make. My first char is a warrior who's going through the whole lot and I've made one of each profession which I'm putting through different aspects of the game.
That talk about Necro Heroes being greater than Necro players is a load of old cobblers. A character, be it a hero or player is only as good as their build and how they apply it, so just ignore that rubbish. All heroes can be used effectively in any aspect of the game but there are some builds which are better in particular areas. The key here is teamwork. If all the characters on your team work then you should have plenty of fun.
Back on topic, I like both necro and ranger but I've been playing my ranger moreso than my necro, just cos I haven't played through prophs recently and the necro's in nf which I've done to death. Excuse the pun.
So basically, they're both fun. Do them both.

well. this is tough because i play ranger as my main but essentially they can both be very good at vanquishing. i take sabway necros and i take bha which basically eliminates any chance of ele bosses wiping you because they dont have a chance to get a spell off. vanquishing becomes so much easier when dazed comes into play. having all of the minions attacking + being dazed means even 1/4 second spells will get interrupted.

I would say Ranger, since you want to do some PvP with it. Necromancers are pretty bleh in PvP.

ITT: ask a bunch of people to tell you why their main is teh uber bestzorz.
you obviously have experience playing both as you mentioned things you like about them. nobody can tell you which one you would prefer better than yourself.

Necromancer:
Can be played as any caster (be a Ritualist or Elementalist and use your primary attribute for mana)
Awesome damage output, especially in hard mode and elite missions
Every party wants one
Pro Ranger:
Can play any physical class (use your primary attribute to have tons of mana and spam Warrior or Paragon skills)
One of the best utility classes in the game
Awesome caster control (BHA)
Fewer possibilities for high damage then Necros - but Splinter/Barrage is extremely strong
Builds for elite missions rarely use Rangers
If you want to do hard mode vanquishing or elite missions, I'd go with the Necromancer. But be aware that you might be used for spamming [[Blood is Power], which is about the most boring thing ever. But it still beats not finding a group with the Ranger
If you either have a good guild for elite missions (so finding a group is not an issue) or if you just want to play the game on normal mode, I'd recommend the Ranger. I also have a Necromancer and a Ranger and I think the Ranger simply is more fun. The Ranger can deal awesome damage and still has interrupts and daze and the possibility to play like a Warrior/Paragon.
