Default Caster Weapons

I currently run Ooze Pit HM daily, and I use Kephkthet's Refuge as my weapon of choice. I run it quite smoothly until the boss where I get overrun by the oozes and have to die to get the remainder of the run under control.

Now I was wondering, would caster weapons be better suited to do the job? and if so can someone give me a good caster weapon set-up. Thx.

your problems seem to be more fundamental than weapon choice.

I'll second Rhamia- running a standard caster weapon / offhand would actually be nearly identical to using the staff, but you would have +17 instead of +15 energy from your weapons.

A caster weapon is any one-handed main weapon (spear, sword, axe) with a +5 energy inscription, and, for monks, frequently a 20% enchanting mod.

So, to make a long story short, your weapons are not going to help you beat the part of the dungeon that is giving you trouble.

Just run a full set of weapons. I'm assuming by Kepkhets' Refuge you're a Prot Monk, but here's the basic weaponset for a WoH Monk. It shouldn't cost much, but you've got to weaponswap on every cast for maximum efficiency.

40/40 Healing
40/20/20 Prot
Defensive set (+20% Enchant sucks on martials anyway compared to staves)
High Energy Set (though you shouldn't need this in PvE at all)

Put it this way, weaponsets also have an effect on the AI which is quite positive.

Are you 600/smiting? If so then weapon doesn't really matter at all

I 600/Smite the Ooze Pit yes, because that's how it's done with a mod on the build for the boss.

But I always get screwed with energy and or health when it comes to that, and I was looking for the best health to energy ratio for running it.

He said he's running Ooze Pit. It's plainly obvious he's a 600.

Now as a 600 the idea is to have your armour as low as possible to get the maximum benefit from Spirit Bond and to do more damage back to your enemies. So having say a shield, for example, will raise your armour, and lower your damage (because you recieve less), which will affect Spirit Bond. It shouldn't make a huge difference as it's only +8 armour, but I thought I'd bring that up anyway.
