For players: anything. Classes with inherent energy management offer most versatility in this regard, classes without often have resort to gimmicks (yes I'm looking at you ER).
For general PvE Heroes: Para's and Necro's.

Most effective in my opinion? Assassin...but I'm biased because my Main is a Sin.
DB/MS spam with SY! or crit scythe with Wounding Strike make PvE easy mode imo.

Dervish primaries are also quite effective and versatile. Big yellow numbers with MoP and Splinter... Reasonable tanking ability, good e-management and deep wound spam works really well with Discord heroes.
Not quite as effective as Necro, Assassin or Paragon for PvE, but fun.

If I start playing as a rit, what are my chances to get into end-game pugs for dungeons and whatnot?
and will people allow a rit cryer for like DoA?

Don't know about the DoA, but would you want to get into a PuG for end-game stuff like HM and dungeons?
If you're lucky, you'll find a competent group of player who should find a place for a Rit in there team. More than likely, you'll find a group of whiney idiots looking to try HM or dungeons and will insist you run cheap PvXwiki knockoffs.

That's actually what my Xandra runs...add a 20% enchanting item and death nova, and away it goes...Though she has some energy management issues, having a [blood ritual] necro (Eve is a very good choice for this) solves that (not to mention your other party members can happily spam away as well.

Couldn't you give her [Boon of Creation]? That triggers for every minion raised by AotL.
[Spirit's Gift] probably wouldn't go amiss either.
