Polynikes,

I've tried the SH build you suggested and I have to agree with Wiki on their judgement. This build does a good deal of damage (maybe even more so then SF) but the amount of scatter is causes makes it a poorer choice then SF.

However, I still enjoy using it as a break FROM SF.

Ensign posted something he was having fun with a while ago. If I remember right, it was something like this.

Savannah Heat {E}
Deep Freeze
Searing Heat
Tenai's Heat
Fire Attunement
can't remember
Glyph of Sacrifice
Res Chant

Yeah, I was running something like that, with GLE in the last slot. With matching heroes (sans Deep Freeze) of course.

Mobs don't scatter, they *die*. Holding aggro is really important in DoA, everywhere else, things melt.

Peace,

So, Ensign, like MY build? I was just wondering if someone as good as you would approve of my build, while the entire heads-in-their-asses GuildWiki community didn't...

About my build: Many people think that once enemies get hit by SH, they scatter immediately. This is absolutely false. They take about three seconds of damage, then strt to scatter. With Deep Freeze at 66% slower, it CAN keep enemies in nearby range for at least 2 more seconds. I also have Teinai's Heat in Variants, if you want that instead of Glowing Gaze. Mark of Rodgort + Glowing Gaze is fun to play in PvE.

I will and am determined to get in a video of me, a tank, and a monk fighting a group of some kind of monsters. I'll show you the devastation of one and only one SH ele.

I think a lot of people who responded didn't take into consideration that that the original poster wasn't asking about Searing Flames. They were asking about Savannah Heat and it's uses. Comparing it to Searing Flames, in my opinion was pretty irrelavant. Searing Flames is neat, but the guy wanted a working SH build. I find it amusing that there is an overwhelming need or even a calling for people to put down people's builds or ideas, regardless of how well they work and regardless of what they are asking for in their post.

But we all know the saying about opinions and how everyone has one.

snare+aoe is what i like, though I like to carry something to quicken recharge on nukes. I like to keep moving and keep spamming things (no not flare spam that is just low pressure). I usually run dual attunes for anything because energy management otherwise can be a pain. but mark of rodgort+glowing gaze with glyph of lesser energy for your other nukes (love rodgort's invocation). i've only done the snare+nuke for farming or ab, never tried for regular pve. will have to try, since I dont usually like to use overtime aoe spells, since the aoe nerf.

Savannah heat is awesome in FoW. My Guildmate and I recently ran the ele/monk duo build there and even managed to complete defend the temple of war. Do not underestimate this skill. It is just plain awesome when used correctly.

I use E/Any

Fire Attunment
Liquid Flame
Tenai's Heat (or searing)
Savannah Heat
Immolate
Glowing Gaze
Glyph of Restoration
Rez Sig
Fire Magic-12+Major or Superior rune on fire head pice
Energy storage-12+Minor Rune
Very simple, just use all ur AOE's and use immolate+glowing gaze
for energy.Yes,thier is no snare, but it still works wonders.
If ur paranoid bring Zhed and make him Water snares.

Heh, I was pretty much running this exact same build, except with Steam instead of Searing Heat, and I had pumped Water Magic up to 9. Gonna have to try this version.

Here are the 3 best SH builds i have thought of:

[skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Deep Freeze[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Searing Heat[/skill][skill]Fireball[/skill][skill]Liquid Flame[/skill]REZ
bit more damage, bit less energy-management

[skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Deep Freeze[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Searing Heat[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill]REZ
my personal favorite. damage+energy management+disabling through scatter FTW.

[skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Deep Freeze[/skill][skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Searing Heat[/skill][skill]Fireball[/skill]REZ
bit tricky to use, but deals 800+ damage. needs perfect timing.

MUUST...GETTT....VIDEOOOOO!!!

@Ensign: Cuz this is to all nearby foes, maybe Nuking Doesn't Suck anymore xD

I dont understand why Savannah Heat is so unpopular, it's the fire skill that does the most damage for it's duration... and with a simple snare you completely ignore the scatter effect as it's near by area...
the only draw back of Savannah Heat is the rather long recharge. to solve that problem become E/R and bring Serpent's Quickness with you. energy shouldnt be a problem unless you're using the none elite variants, Searing Heat and Tehnai's Heat which are more expensive, but with Serpent's Quickness you dont really need them...

So when using this Build with hero henchmen, should one of the hero eles be a water snare ele? or can they all be SH eles sans the Deep Freeze?

Make them all SH without Deep Freeze, and apply the snare on priority targets (clumps?) yourself. No need to make anyone a water ele, DF is 10 sec snare regardless of water magic.

QFT.

You yourself should be the only one carrying Deep Freeze. Do not invest into Water Magic. Here are the skill bars:

You:

[skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Deep Freeze[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Searing Heat[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

Attributes:
Fire Magic - 12+1+(1-3)
Energy Storage - 12+1
Healing Prayers - 3

Heroes:

[skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Teinai's Heat[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Searing Heat[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

Attributes:
Fire Magic - 12+1+(1-3)
Energy Storage - 12+1
Healing Prayers - 3

This build now works EXTREMELY well in normal mode. The enemies take just about 4 seconds of AoE before fleeing. DF keeps em in for AT LEAST one more second. I think this definitely beats out SF now...

[skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Deep Freeze[/skill][skill]Savannah Heat[/skill][skill]Searing Heat[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Teinai's Heat[/skill]

let me explain something... if youre using SH properly there is NO NEED for fire attunement... i tried SH with fire attunement and basically i was topped up the entire time. i tried it without fire attunement... i was topped up every 30 seconds... fire attunement is a waste of a slot in this build! ESPECIALLY if using glowing gaze. its pointless. just try it out without attunement and add in fireball or liquid flame for some spike damage... its helped me out. also IMO you should have arcane echo... nuthin beats GoLE --> Deep Freeze --> Arcane Echo --> 2x SH

you might wanna add in some other skills such as fireball or liquid flame. you could also add in breath of fire because it is basically the same thing as searing heath but it does 50 less total damage (considering that MoR is on the target)
