Default Healing Buids...Unloved?

Recently, I have been testing the elite, Angelic Bond, in Team Arenas. Well, more specifically I have been healing with an Angelic Bonder on my team. It has worked to great success, as the damage split gives me more than enough time to keep up with the healing.

However, the standard prot build that I, as most monks run, is lacking. The only healing in the build is ZB and gift of health. Since the damage transferred is taking my armor into consideration, the paragon can sometimes come under a large amount of damage.

It's never my energy that suffers, its the recharges. If the damage comes constant enough for long enough, I can't keep up with the heals on both him and me, and we both will eventually crack.

So my question is, after looking over the healing elites and divine favor elites...how in the world to make a decent healing build. Angelic Bond alone, maybe with a Shielding Hands mixed in, is more than enough prot for me, I just have to keep up with the healing. Blight is proving too expensive, and I can't get Healing Light placed in the right build. So I ask you, the primary monks of guild wars, if there is any halfway decent healing build out there, or if theres a reason everyone runs prot nowadays.

Edit: Typo in the title! D: Didn't notice. Should be *Builds

The ability to reduce or negate damage is more powerful than the ability to restore lost health... And when it comes to raw healing power, the ritualist beats the monk hands down. That's probably why so many monks run prot builds these days.

Personally, I'm a Word of Healing fan. Heals for a reasonable amount, is cheap, recharges quite quickly, and doubles in effectiveness on allies that really need the healing. The only real downside is that you can't cast it on yourself, but I generally bring along Healing Touch as a self-heal when I'm using WoH in my elite slot. This general thing works in PvE, but I'll admit to not having much experience of PvP so I have no idea how it would hold up in TA.

A good healing build involves Light of Deliverance or Healer's Boon usually, but for RA/TA Shield of Regeneration and Zealous Benediction are, probably, the best elites. Shield of Absorption should help your paragon. Prevention of damage is more effective than healing.

I have to honestly say I am unsure about what stops the paragon from taking that damage. Specifically, I didn't know if SoA did so. A quick look at wiki didn't help me much.

Maybe this belongs in the paragon forums...or maybe I'm just being an idiot. Shielding Hands will reduce the damage apparently, so I need to modify my tactics a little as far as using that is concerned. But SoA says 'triggers on hit'. Hes not really being hit, more or less just taking unskilled type damage from an outside source. Or if that counts for being hit...Gah!

In the end, I think I might need a heal/prot hybrid. Keeping the life saving Shielding Hands (and maybe the SoA) while running decent amounts of healing using something. Who knows, maybe I'll change up the build, drag a BR into the scene, and run Healers Boon. Although personally, Healers Covenent looks fun on paper at least. Then again, so does Aura of Faith o_O

Sounds like fun (never tried this, as it just came to me), but would Reversal Damage work? The description says takes damage and the foe dealing the damage will take x damage. So would RD work on the Paragon?

How about Spirit Bond? Reversal of Fortune? Life Barrier?

Stand near the Paragon and cast Heal Area.

I use now Lod plus Dwayna's kiss and a few others and maybe holy haste.
There are times when healing is needed over protect more so in pve that pvp.I haven't truely give up on WoH when and where ever it is needed but for the most part I am mainly a protect or a hybrid of both these days.

The only builds I run in HM PvE is either a HB or an LoD monk, mixed with prot spirit of course. Pure prot simply isn't that great unless it's on a third monk spot because it's hard to pre-prot stuff in PvE

SoA triggers when the enchanted player takes damage. It doesn't have to be an attack hit; run a SoR bonder in RA and you can confirm it.

Healing builds are based on another mode of thinking than Protection. Bonding takes some thinking, and that is what Angelic Bond is doing, except its on a single target at a time and not on multiple targets like most bond monks will normally do.

If you treat the Paragon like a bond monk, you will need chants/shouts to fuel your energy and a way to cause self healing on a normal regeneration level.

[skill=big]Mending Refrain[/skill]

This would do it as for regenration on yourself. as well as your target. Get some adrenaline based shouts that charge fast like:

[skill=card]"Go for The Eyes!"[/skill][skill=card]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill] and then you're in business. They don't need to be totally effective, but they are useable to fuel your mana bar.

how about Seed of Life (in pve) or Healing Seed (for pvp). It will trigger at any dmg type and it takes some pressure off you. Only downside is the recharge.
