Some of these questions I can't een answer, I'm also a noob. But I know some of them. If this is your first time, honestly, I would get all 4. But if your on a budget, get only number one. You wont be able to start an assassin, Prophecies, is the best for beginners, It gives you a all the beginner tips to guildwars. And has the best storyline. But if you like assassin SOOOOOOOOO much. You can go right ahead and buy Factions.

There are three chapters to Guild Wars....Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall. Eye of the North will be comming out August 31st, but you must own a previous chapter to play it. I would buy either Prophecies or Factions first, but the best thing to do would to be buy all 3 chapters (if thats an option).
Prophecies includes the core professions--Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Elementalist, Necromancer and Mesmer....Factions adds 2 more professions--Assassin and Ritualist...Nightfall adds Paragon and Dervish.
I wouldnt start out as an Assassin primary, because they are actually one of the harder classes to learn and play. Necromancer, Ranger or Elementalist are good ones to start with.

1. Buy em all
2. Didn't understand the question
3. Each class has it's strengths/weaknesses
4. The sticky on the first page of this might have something: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3008187
5. If I was playing a A/N I might use [skill]Plague Touch[/skill] It's a decent condition removal without having to be an Assassin/Monk

In addition to what was previously answered:
2.) As the name implies GuildWars jargon are just technical language developed overtime within the GW communities. Eg. Wammo, Skill acronyms such as IWAY, bonders, naruto sin? etc. You can find most of their meanings on the official wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com or type /wiki in game. And the older, nonofficial but more comprehensive wiki at http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page
3) Assuming you meant along the lines of "what is the best build". There aren't any that are best. Build wanes or rise in efficiency depending on situations and opponent's build. Although there are certainly more popular profession combinations, you can find a general analysis of each in aforementioned wikis.
4.) Search the wikis or this forums. I'm certain there are posts on this forum that discusses newcomer issues and general tips about playing an assassin, namely don't be a tank due to obvious amount of low armor.
5.) A/N builds are rare as I recall. Usually this combination utilize Plague Touch to transfer negative conditions from one self to another. There are lots of skills that your gonna need, the best way is to choose for yourself once ur in the game.
