Winter skill bugged?
When I tried Hell's Precipice earlier, I equipped a Ranger hero with a lvl 8 Winter Spirit. However, none of my fire spells seemed to be doing any more damage as though there was no winter spirit laid down.
I ran again without the Ranger with winter and I couldn't see a noticeable drop in damage as there should've been.
Is this skill bugged or does winter not affect skills like Searing Flames? I checked out guildwiki's entry on Hell's Precipice mission and there was a small note about winter that was discussing the same problem I am experiencing.
Anyone else having this problem or I'm I not using the skill correctly?

"Winter will neutralize skills that trigger on a specific elemental damage type, such as Glimmering Mark, Mark of Rodgort, and Thunderclap, causing their conditions to never trigger."
-gw.gamewikis.org
I am guessing this means that the conditions from elemental attacks(burning for x seconds, whatever) are neutralized, so you don't get the full impact of the skill.

thats not what hes talking about at all. reading comprehension ftw.
Try equipping a necro hero with spinal shivers. and make sure you do not have an icy weapon. then try to trigger shivers while winter is down.

I said it was guess as to the problem, using the quote as why I reasoned such. He said he wasn't getting any benefit from searing flames. The wiki said "skills with a specific elemental attack, such as Mark of Rodgort," etc. Searing Flames does fire damage. That, to me at least, would count as 'specific elemental damage', and might explain why he wasn't getting the elemental benefits from Winter that he felt he should get. If their conditions aren't triggering, he isn't getting the benefits, or the damage, that Winter would give in other skills, such as Spinal Shivers, as you suggested and which it mentions it benefits.
It is just a guess, not an absolute.

wiki was talking about skills with triggers on damage types like MoR. SF triggers damage on burning, not a damage type. he was saying that he dosnt think winter is converting his fire damage to cold.

So now I am really confused. According to Wiki (and the skill itself) "Create a level 1...8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, all elemental damage is cold damage instead. This Spirit dies after 30...126 seconds."
So if this is the case, why is it that Sparks/Fire Imps etc can still set me on fire? If i have Winter up, and they case a Fire/burning skill at me (which is Elemental damage) then I should not be set on fire for 5 seconds (or more). I have never heard of "Cold Fire". I have been trying to do Sanctum Cay in Hard Mode and the first group of Imps doesnt even let me off the boat. Destroys the entire party with burning skills. Winter has zero impact.
Anyone have an opinion on this?
Thanks,

The problem might be that the monster taking damage was outside of winter's range.
It's not because you are in winter's range that your damage changes, but it's the target that needs to be in range.
I've had that happen. You set winter down, then run up to the monsters,
If they are ranged, they don't run up to you and might stay out of winter's range.

I've heard that the problem with winter is that elemental damage is converted to cold after armor damage calculations are already done. As a result, winter offers no benefit when dealing with high fire armor level mobs like titans, destroyers, etc... For winter to work correctly, it must convert elemental damage to cold prior to armor damage calc's.

So... with what the OPs has stated... is the skill bugged? or is that whole thing about the damage calculations after armor intentional?
