nothing, because mesmers are completely worthless... oh, i mean worth-less than something better; like a broad head arrow ranger, or a meleemancer

Clearly.
My Norgu runs Domination with the following build:
[skill]Diversion[/skill][skill]Power Block[/skill][skill]Power Spike[/skill][skill]Power Drain[/skill][skill]Empathy[/skill][skill]Energy Burn[/skill][skill]Guilt[/skill][skill]Death Pact Signet[/skill]
I'll switch the elite depending on the situation. Heroes, after all, cannot priorotise which is the best skill to use Power Block on. Sometimes I give him Hex Eater Vortex, sometimes Mantra of Recovery. Sometimes I'll stop him using Diversion, as I mainly have him pack it in case there is an annoying boss that needs shutting down.
Generally as far as attributes go he has 12 +rune +headpiece for domination, and 9-11 for each Inspiration and Fast Casting.

Ignore the Mahmoud. Mesmer interupts are far better against casters than any ranger due to their instant cast, and ability to regain/do damage. They can also completely shut down melee with skills such as clumsiness etc. Although, i only use my Gwen for caster-hate:
[card]Mantra Of Recovery[/card][card]Cry Of Frustration[/card][card]Power Spike[/card][card]Epidemic[/card][card]Leech Signet[/card][card]Power Drain[/card][card]Shatter Enchantment[/card][card]Resurrection Signet[/card]

Both classes have their pros and cons. A Ranger can shut down a caster with Daze and interrupt, though you're right, their interrupts don't do much. A Mesmer's interrupts are quicker casting (although not "instant") and also pickier (most will only interrupt spells/chants), but they do have secondary effects, such as inflicting large amount of damage, disabling multiple skills, and self-energy gain.
Even when I take Norgu out in Eye of the North, I still usually take Zho, as the BHA she packs can be very useful.

Yes, I love BHA, but it can often miss, especially on a hench. which is irritating. I don't deny that if the daze is applied, the caster is screwed for the duration. But against most casters, the mesmer will fare better.

dont use mesmers. they are underpowered. If you want interrupts get a ranger or something with a mesmer secondary. mesmer as a primary is a waste of a place in your team.

As much as i like mesmers, i agree with Coloneh. For pve, mesmers arent versatile enough to take on some of the mobs in gwen. But, to make use of them , i use my Gwen as an fc b-surge. Also, i always keep my norgu as a powerblock, for things like Gate of Pain.

How so? Power block, spike ect. to shut down casters and empathy ect. for melee monsters. As far as I know they can be helpful versus any enemy so I wouldnt quite say they are not versatile. I run norgu frequently in eotn, with power block, leak, drain, and empathy as my core skills and I found him very helpful throught the entire game. Just my 2 cents.

^I feel a mesmer is usually better when facing just one opponent. Mnay of their good skill have less than great recharge times, and with he bigger mobs in Eotn, i feel something like a nuker would be better. However, on that note, i have come up with a concept build for "nuking". Its by no means original, but nobody has posted it yet.
[skill]hex eater vortex[/skill][skill]shatter hex[/skill][skill]cry of frustration[/skill][skill]mistrust[/skill][skill]power drain[/skill][skill]leech signet[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]Optional (smite hex would be good)

If you want to go a different direction, you can go for a fast casting nuker. Put 10+1 into fast casting, 12 into your chosen element (usually air magic), then add in Leech Signet and Power Drain for energy management. There is also an Ineptitude build that my mes uses fairly well, but I do not remember it right now.

I tried this build in Bloodstone Caves to deal with the large amount of melee in there:
[card]Ineptitude[/card][card]Clumsiness[/card][card]Epidemic[/card][card]Cry Of Frustration[/card][card]Leech Signet[/card][card]Power Spike[/card][card]Power Drain[/card][card]Resurrection Chant[/card]

Recharge times for interuption of Mesmers make them pretty ineffective, imo. They are some good skills for gaining energy which also interupt, but if the skill takes 20 seconds to recharge, this is not good. Which makes DistilledWill build look promising, but not having a hard rez makes me suspect.

Good mix of anti melee and anti caster- and the hero AI plays it well.

just a question about this build. does the hero AI use it well? if I were to use this build myself I would have probably gotten nice results, rather random as you dont know which spells you steal but as a hero AI, is it smart enough to first steal spells than use them under SoI?
