Hey all,

was just wondering if everyone switches up to an obby build for any serious runs for fow/uw or gwen dungeons. I usually switch up my build, including secondary depending on what im doing but this past weekend I got kicked from several groups for a couple reasons..

I was running a pretty typical W/Mo tank build that I use when solo questing with henchs/heroes in GWEN and wanted to pick up my obsedian helm so I headed to Toa where I was booted from 2 groups for not pinning my build and several others because I wasn't running an obby tank.

just a rant, been a while since i've played... Started at launch and went a good amount of time after the release of factions but then left to play some other MMOs with some RL friends.

did i just get some bad groups or is this pretty much how things go for these type runs these days?

Nope its normal.

for FoW its Healing Hands/ Obby tank only. If you dont have them good luck capping them.

Most groups now a days are like that, then again i have seen some funky tanks builds. Like this one guy pinged his build and it was the sameone on the back of the prophecies box. W/E (thought he was obby tank) Hamstring Slash + Fire Storm, and he pinged that he was holding a bow...

Yea I was running a HH build at the time, but I guess when I feel like running fow i'll go obby although I hate being forced to run specific builds. I understand some are most effecient... but since when is fow so elite that other builds can't handle it?? I used to solo it with my necro, was just a bit suprising to go through an interview process to pug forgemasters.

My warrior Fow build uses Cleave as the elite, and I never thought of running HH or Obsidian there. You don't need a tank in FoW; it only slows you down. My stance is flail, or soldier's defense, rarely. FoW PuGs suck, or at least the ones you encountered were bad.

DOA is pretty much the only place where an obsidian tank is not counterproductive and even there, you can get away with more offense through some areas. If you're holding a shield in your offhand you've got all the defense required for FoW tanking.

Look at the number of pugs spamming " TANKER lfg forge run fow" its an insult to warriors. If u tanking Go Home!!

Hey thanks for the responses guys, I was hoping maybe I just had some bad luck. I normally run a variation of the Steady Stance Warrior but I didn't think that would fly after the grief I was getting from not being setup obby.

What I run is very similiar to this, great dmg and alot of fun.. I'll see what kind of responses I get trying to run it in a fow pug though

You don't need to be such a hardcore tank in fow, HM or no. I've made this run hundreds of time for friends and alliance members and I don't think I've ever taken any type of pure tanking build. I much prefer to use my own builds here and have fun. Imo, tanking would just slow you down there anyway.

No need to munch cookies in the Fow.
