Default Why can't Heroes carry a cap sig?

I have killed a lot of elite's in Nightfall and Eye of the North that were a good waste of and elite cap for one of the Heroes.

It sure would make a hell of a lot of sense for them to be able to carry cap sigs. It would certainly beat spending countless hours on end grinding faction for the priest of Balthazar to get them and make killing elites not of your classes worth more than a +2 health bonus.

So why did not Anet allow heroes to carry them?

Simple: because it would give Nightfall and EotN owners an easier time capping skills. How would you feel if you only owned Prophecies and your friend can cap four different elites for four different professions in one go?

I would feel envious and want to run out and by either Nightfall or EotN so I could do the same.

Also, being able to cap 4 skills at a time makes getting Skill Hunter a lot easier. Come on...4 times faster...?

Not really, if the hero capped it, it would just be unlocked on ur acount, ur char wont have it.

What would be the point? According to the guildwars mechanics, if one of your characters unlocks a skill, it is unlocked for ALL your heroes on all of your other characters, BUT not the other characters themselves. They would need to either buy the skill themselves, or use a tome to learn that skill.

Now using that same logic/game mechanic, if your hero caps the elite skills, it would be unlocked for all your heroes across your account, BUT your own character would NOT have that elite skill. True that might be advantageous to some people, but why bother capping the skill if your char can't even use it unless they cap it themself.

It's not like it takes long to kill any given boss and cap a skill. During the double xp weekend, I capped about 130 elite skills in a single weekend to get my dervish to max survivor. It'll be another 2 years before guild wars 2 comes out. There's plenty of time for you to cap the skill normally.

Um, buying hero skills works exactly the same as buying regular skills or using a skill capping sig with YOUR char. You can't tell your heroes in town to go buy a hero skill. Any skills bought/captured are unlocked for:
1. the player who bought it
2. all heroes and ONLY heroes across the account.
Therefore, using your heroes to cap 3 more skills is just a huge waste of money if you're going for the skill hunter title because even if your heroes cap 3 elite skills, those 3 elite skills are NOT unlocked for your character. Therefore you have to go and buy 3 more cap sigs and cap the same skills yourself.... congratulations you just threw away 3 plat and temporarily wasted 3 hero skill slots.

To unlock it for heroes to use. Simple as that.
I've unlocked several warrior elites I will never use on any of my characters. Not to rack up the skill hunter title. Because frankly I couldn't care less about it. Don't even need the XP. But simply so that I can give it to Koss.

Wouldn't it make more sense if I could just give Koss the SoC and not have to change secondary + replace the skills I use in the default skill bar from my default secondary profession including a SoC. Go out to cap that one skill. Then back in to an outpost, change everything back again. (Which admittedly with the skill templates aren't more than a click or two. But still...) And then give Koss his shiney new toy.

I could be using the time faffing about just continuing with what I was doing in that explorable, perhaps even go a bit further and cap a skill for me or another hero - without having to do a pitstop after each captured skill to change secondary profession.

My point being that if I'm gonna hike all the way out there (usually the hike isn't all that far to begin with if you have all outposts), I might as well cap the skill for my character while I'm at it. True if you're only looking to get a skills for your heroes, then yes putting a soc on your hero would be simple and very quick. But then what if later on you find a nice build you want to use, but you don't have the elite skill required in that build? Now you gotta do the hike all over again and spend another 1plat on another signet of capture for a skill your hero already unlocked... I mean, you know your hero capped it cuz you were there when he did it ..... the quick alternative being to buy an elite tome for 10plat.

I dunno, I've already captured every elite for my main character quite a while ago so I have every hard to obtain skill at my disposal already. Just over this weekend I tried out a build that used an elite I never thought I'd ever use on that character. To me, putting signets of capture on your heroes is just going out of your way to be lazy, and it could bite you in the *** later

The only place where I see this being handy is during missions with multiple bosses like Glint's or some of the factions missions. But those only took me a couple days to cap them all. And how hard are those missions these days with heroes at your disposal?

That's my *** and if I want to risk getting it bitten at some remote point in the future, that should be my choice.

The chances that I would ever need a skill like 'primal rage' (warrior elite tied to warrior primary attribute strenght) on my monk is minimal to non-existing. Having to spend an extra 1k, a skill point and the time it takes to go out and cap it a second time. Should I ever find myself in the very unlikely situation where I figure I really need it for said monk. I'm willing to take that risk because in the long run, heroes carrying SoC will have saved much more time.
Time I could have spent on playing the game. Not the demented jo-jo of start mission, kill first boss, cap a skill for Koss. Resign, change seconday profession. Start the mission, kill first boss again, kill second boss, cap a skill for Jin. Resign, change seconday profession. Start the mission, kill first boss a third time, kill second boss again, kill third boss, cap a skill for Gwen. Resign, change secondary profession. Start the mission, kill first boss a fourth time, kill second boss the third time, kill third boss again... and again and again and again.
