According to guild wiki only level 24 beetles have distracting shot, I'm not sure if that includes level 26 HM beetles, so the others should be really easy to farm with any 55/105 build. All they can do is direct damage and a little self healing, 55 SS or SV should be ideal.

best place imho is hold of cholkin [something like that] you run pass the plant monster and instead of goin toward the place where you do the quest, protect the learner or something like that but instead of goin there take a left turn in tunnel.

There are several groups *just* outside Mihanu Township on Mirror of Lyss side. No running required. Those guys do have distracting shot, but I was able to 'usually' take them with a 55/sv (edit: in Hard Mode that is). Hope that helps. There are also a few groups on the main quest path on the way to Chantry of secrets but you may need to take out a couple groups of harpies as well (without monks).

I've farmed them In HM with a 55/SV as well. I just try to lure them to an area where I can hide behind a rock to avoid Distracting Shot.

yeah, it's really too bad we can't have 3 professions ;P
it'd be handy for glyph of concentration or mantras lol

I've tried the rock thing too, but in HM they seem to be not fooled by that as much and come around. Plus time spent pulling means more chances of death due to critical interrupt, so I typically just wade in as it were.

Edit: I should probably mention that some things which may be good to utilize are reckless haste, price of failure, guardian, good luck!

Lots and lots of them live in Garden of Seborhin, if you just take the right northern turn after entering.

I must admit, however, that I fail to see what it is about these critters that makes people want to farm them. Any "secret stuff" we might need to know?

Normal Mode E/A can, the only annoyance is using Shadow of Haste, running up to them and at the last second when you start MS, they run a few feet away.

Don't they know I need to time things a certain way without any trouble?

In that case, hide behind a wall and spirit shackles + famine + mind whack the hell outta them.

This salvage farming thing is not a good idea. I spent the longest time 130'ing in Hidden City after those Djinn's common drops, which theoretically salvage into gemstones, and after getting a stack of each, I decided to salvage all of them.
Result:
3 rubies
4 saphires
2 diamonds
....
.......
thats right, out of 750 essences. I'm never doing THAT again.
I did get some rubies out of Jeweled Daggers I got there and more scythe mods than I could count, but thats neither here or there. This was pre-HM btw.

that's about the luck i've been getting, arkain. The VERY first one (geode, that is) I salvaged into a ruby, and every single one since (geodes and djinn essnces) then has been dust

probably around 100 total

the only ruby daggers I get are white, and I have a small pile of highly salvagable inscripts. I hear the have a much higher rate of yielding rubies.

edit: backfire totally destroys rock bettles -- try it on Hajok. Anything that spams stone daggers melts under backfire fast.
