Developing a solo HM undead killer build
I figure this would revolve around dealing holy damage, which of course the dervish is proficient at.
I have found these skills deal holy damage: Avatar of Balthazar, Heart of Holy flame. Additionally, Balthazar's rage, deals a burst of holy damage to adjacent enemies.
I would think you would alternate between Av of Balth and HoHF, spamming Balthazars rage when you can.
The remaining skills should regen energy (perhaps Balth Spirit), regen (mystic vigor), and probably some condition removal. Has anyone played around with a build like this?

Where were you planning to do this?
Zealous Renewal deals holy damage as well, and gives you a nice energy boost if used correctly.

I found that evenw ith a 130 dervish with Prot Spirit, the damage is just too great unless you plan on using a wanf / focus.
I saw some dude trying to do with with a D/E earth build but he coudnt kill jack

it'd have to be some form of 130 running shielding hands, I think. maybe 2 attacks instead of 3?
Anyway, SoJ actually benefits from hard more creatures hitting you more often, so a 55 monk will outperform a 130 D in any HM farm run.

wouldn't you be able to throw in SoJ into the 130 build as the elite, pump smiting to like 8 or 9 and have Eremite's Attack and Mystic sweep as your only 2 attacks?
And for the 130 build to work correctly you need to die at least once. But now that i think about it in HM you lose DP so fast that you will probably need to die before you fight each group.
Arkain is most likely right -- the 55 monk can do this way more efficiently than a dervish

I have computer problems right now so I cant try this out or balance out the exact number for attribute points so it might not be these exact.
But for fun I would actually try something like:
Stats:
14 Earth
15 Mysticism
X Inspiration
[skill]physical resistance[/skill][skill]mystic regeneration[/skill][skill]conviction[/skill][skill]aura of thorns[/skill][skill]armor of sanctity[/skill][skill]sand shards[/skill][skill]signet of midnight[/skill][skill]channeling[/skill]
So going it I would use Physical Resistance>Aggro>Conviction>Aura of Thorns>Armor of Sanctity>Sand Shards>Signet of Midnight
Re-apply everything as it goes down and use Channeling when energy is needed.
When Aura of Thorns, everything should start bleeding(that can) and Armor of Sanctity reduces your damage intake asweel as all the armor boosting enchantments. Use Sand Shards before Signet of Midnight and everything should take AOE damage for 30 seconds.
I think this would offer ALOT of armor combined with damage reduction and offer AOE damage and give you energy back.
I just cant test it. So if anyone can, let me know how it goes.

I've been thinking bout something like this, I don't have any attributes down yet but the skills I've been thinking about were.
[skill]Judge's Insight[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Reaper's Sweep[/skill][skill]Eremite's Attack[/skill][skill]Symbol of Wrath[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill]
I was thinking that you would definitely die one or two times first.

black, for what I have in mind, I think going holy damage derv skills, not smiting, would be better, and hopefully finding a way to do it with high hp and armor vs 120'ing it
the range of specific undead to fight is pretty small. I just need to get some ideas here and see what works before I put it all together and let this cat out of the bag
thanks

Dervishes should NEVER EVER use Judge's Insight. Heart of Holy Flame makes your dmg holy for 30+(ench mod) seconds for the same 10 energy.

[skill]Armor of Sanctity[/skill] + [skill]Veil of Thorns[/skill]
and i hate to say it, but [skill]Avatar of Balthazar[/skill]
probably [skill]Zealous Renewal[/skill]
and obviously [skill]Heart of Holy Flame[/skill]

good choices, coloneh, I tried them. But I think this is a dead issue now -- the spawns are always warrior class (easy), with randoms of mesmer class (annoying but can be done), ele class (blind you, not good), and monk (can't be killed this way). I can hold my own until AoB ends, then it's just a matter of time. I've been putting in balth spirit + essence bond, that keeps the energy just fine, but I'm thinking my little spot can't be done as such.

MY computer is still not up and running and I guess I was curious after posting the skills I suggested.
Did anyone have an opportunaty to try out the build I posted?

Dude, I did not ask you to test this personally, I just asked anyone intierested to give it a try and tell me what they thought. I was not disrespectul to you so you shoudnt be to me.
The idea behind [skill]sand shards[/skill] is that each time your attack misses, EVERYTHING AROUND will get delt (at 14 Earth) 24dmg.
Itself not seeming much, HOWEVER, since your scythe attacks 3 times and MISSES those 3 times, then EVERYTHING will get delt 72 Damage, for 30 seconds with re-applying [skill]signet of midnight[/skill] which is now considerably more. That with bleeding effect that you get from the other skills.
Scythes attack every 1.75 seconds and its true that with [skill]heart of fury[/skill] you could do considerably more damage but even with all the current armor buffs and damage reduction, I dont know if you could stay alive, I havent been able to test it.
I think [skill]sand shards[/skill] is good in very specific crammed places.

you could try something like the IDS build i have been using.throw in Hohf and it should work against casters. you can even take out the running skills. what area were you trying? maybe with a look at the mobs we can offer more help. http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/User:Coloneh/IDS_Farmer

How about the new Dervish Kurzick/ Luxon skills or the Sunspear skill because they will both help with doing holy damage. Possibly try a enchantment bomber but holy damage only??? just a thought.

Well now AoB won't end : ), slap on Eternal Aura. You can leave HoHF, take HoF, Mystic Vigor, Mystic Regen. Vital Boon + SoPL for spike heals. Not sure though, I've never tried soloing in HM.
I hope Eternal Aura doesn't get touched...
