PvP Beastmaster builds?
Are there any out there? I've read up on the "Smiting Beastmaster" build in the guides section, but is that it? I've also heard that the Thumper builds that use pets as an extra source of dps are no longer effective.
I'm really just looking for a good pvp build that incorperates ranger pets effectively.

The problem is basically the same as it's always been. That is skill set versus total points for combined effectiveness. I have had some success in RA w/ Beast master builds centering around pet damage by placing high points in BM. But like I said your problems begin to compound b/c you have to have enough points to keep yourself safe and your pet alive.
TA w/ the right team is a better place for a BM build. After all it really is a team play game.
Experiment a little. Create a build w/ a specific enemy type in mind. Try to keep the spread of attributes limited by focusing on only 2 or a max of 3 attributes.
One thing I found amusing and deceiving was to equip a bow and only 1 interrupt and the rest defense and pet attacks. That way you appear to be little more than a nuisance till....*Whammy!! Aaaagh get this pet off of me!

So no one replied to your thread in 1 hour and you automatically assume that A-net has failed somehow?
Beastmasters have varied results in most PvP. The elite of choice in most cases is Enraged Lunge or Heal As One. Otygh's Cry is also an excellent inclusion since it makes sure your pet's attacks will hit. Basically an Enraged build will give you more dps since Enraged is about 100 damage every 5 seconds, but a Heal As One build will give you more defense since it's a good heal for both beast and master. If you have a monk, then Enraged is definately the way to go.

In RA I use to play a beastmaster smiter that did tons of dmg.
[skill]Melandru's Assault[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Aura[/skill][skill]Judge's Insight[/skill]
My favorite skill was melandrus assault, as it does AoE dmg and hurts all the enchants people use in RA. I ran the typical call of haste + charm + rez sig. And I used [skill]Ferocious Strike[/skill] as it was the only bm elite at the time, and to power BAura and other spammable skills. I also used a staff instead of a bow. This was all before factions + NF came out though, so there may be some new skills to add in.
You might try to look @ the bm skills and come up with a build of your own btw. You obviously need a res sig, charm animal, call of haste. You can bring comfort animal if you want, but your pet usually NEVER gets targeted, and I chose to bring [skill]Predator's Pounce[/skill] as a pet heal in case. So now you have 3 skills that are a must on your BM bar. Now look @ the bm skills here: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Ranger_...uick_reference and add skills that suit your purpose.

Beast masters generally just aren't very good in PvP, due to the nature of pets. There are a couple exceptions:
Heal as One R/Ps are everywhere in HvH. If you want the build, go look in observer for a while.
I've had some success in TA with enraged BMs. Use a pet shout, comfort, charm, and tiger's fury to force them to recharge, letting you get full damage with enraged. Throw in outyugh's cry to get past any block, and rip enchantment to mess with frenzied defense monks or dshot just because dshot is awesome.
However, most ranger builds you're going to play are just going to always be build off of the same template, due to how awesome that template is. Mending touch, natural stride, troll unguent, dshot, savage, apply poison is just such a versatile template that no other ranger build really can compare.

Doh, I missed the A.M. and P.M. change. Either way, not all builds work everywhere. Minion Masters are pretty worthless in PvP, but that's not really a failure of A-net imo, just the nature of the game. Even if Beastmasters aren't great in PvP, they are still good additions to a PvE team build when done right.
