Magehunter Strike: What do you guys think?
(If only search wasn't seemingly busted...)
I quite like the synergy with a conjure and Sun & Moon following a Shock. Nice unblockable damage in tiny 'screw-you-Prot-Spirit' packets. Beyond that... I dunno'.
Crip Slash/D. Slash is certainly better but for variety and all that. Anyone wrung any more use out of this, or is it a dead fish?

"Variety and all that" doesn't win games though. Why not run prot strike instead and save the elite?

Yes well I get bored easily... I find trying out interesting things more appealing than just running the same shit all day because it's the most effective thing in the universe...
The question wasn't 'is this better than xxx build?' it was 'what do you think of the skill?', and in regards to Prot Strike, it is indeed a good (probably better) alternative, but it's the Aegis-screwing nature of MG Strike that interests me.
Make no mistake, I'm aware of the stronger skills. This is just analysis. Has anyone else looked beyond the paper and actually tried to get more from this?

it's quite good on an r/w. Protector's strike makes it completely pointless on a warrior because at a 3 second recharge it's already taking up your energy if you try and spam it (unless you run warrior's cunning), and it's not a significent improvement on PS. A thumper can afford to spam both, which makes an effective alternative to IAS if you want to go hammer-expertise-ws, which works ok, nat stride and whatever. Pumps out the hammer bashes more than an RaO I think.

Phool, surely you mean Warrior's Endurance? I'm pretty sure Cunning has nothing to do with energy concerns

Yeah endurance. Though relatedly this can be a fun w/d equivalent to running both protector's strike and magehunter's that I've mucked about with in AB or FA -
[skill]Protector's Strike[/skill][skill]Mystic Sweep[/skill][skill]Eremite's Attack[/skill][skill]Warrior's Endurance[/skill]
for scythe or hammer, i prefer hammer so you can actually do some respectable damage if they don't try and kite
+
[skill]Hammer Bash[/skill][skill]Crushing Blow[/skill]
+wind prayers anti-kiting skill of choice
+[skill]natural healing[/skill]

Unseen Fury sounds pretty similar (Assassin skill) -
For 15...51 seconds, you cannot be "blocked" by Blinded foes.
Only thing here is you have to hit blinded foes and not foes with enchantments, and of course you don't get the damage bonus.
I wouldn't use Magehunter as the elite though as there are better options. I always make sure that my elite really brings something to the table in my builds that finish it all off and (just my personal preference) that Elite wouldn't fit that role. As I don't have Nightfall I'm guessing Magehunter strike would be used only/mainly in hounding down enemy monks as many other spell casters who use enchantments don't have many avoiding enchantments. Again that's just from my experience in only Factions though.
Also as mentioned above, Warriors Cunning is decent, but it costs 10 energy and the recharge time sucks ass.

I think the skill is bad. It's too similar to Protector's Strike, not making it worth an elite. It needs to be buffed pretty good cause there's plenty of better elites to use. Maybe added damage, or have it punish blockers.....adjust the recharge and make it cause deep wound, kd, etc. It should just be plain unblockable. Weapon of Warding is a common blocking weapon spell so Magehunter strike could be blocked by it since the target has to be enchanted.

I think its an ok skill and occasionally use it on my warrior in PvE but in PvP (ab) I would use it on a R/W ->
[skill]Magehunter Strike[/skill]
[skill]Protector's strike[/skill]
[skill]Critical Chop[/skill] or [skill]Crushing Blow[/skill]
[skill]Dismember[/skill] or [skill]Hammer Bash[/skill]
[skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill] or [skill]Mighty Blow[/skill]
[skill]Whirling Defense[/skill]
[skill]Dodge[/skill]
[skill]Healing Signet[/skill]

Yeah those were my own thoughts. It's just perplexing this is even elite at all. What the hell did Anet think we'd do with this that meant it needed to be elite?
Yup. Dead fish...

How would this be good on a even a ranger? Even Protectors gives +10 damage (while moving) at 0 strength. This only gives +5. Plus most of the Hammer Elites make this look rubbish...
It really does feel like a pointless skill...

This skill actually isn't too bad if you anticipate facing an Aegis chainer.
Its very limited use, however, definitely isn't worth an elite status.

Used it with Protector's Strike, Standing Slash and Sun and Moon Slash with a zealous sword. Combined with a N/Rt with Weapon of Fury + Order of Pain you can spam them endlessly for a lot of damage and quick adrenaline gain.

I hear what your saying Racthoh. The 1/2 second attack speed is indeed very good for Adrenaline building. I really don't like being restricted to zealous to sustain a build though. My vamp weapons get lonely .

On a related note, [skill=text]Magehunter's Smash[/skill] and [skill=text]Lift Enchantment[/skill] seems like it could be a nifty combo...

Well, your vamp sword will hit for 3 life stealing on every swing... or attack more often with your 15-22 range, the boost from 14 or 16 mastery, and the 15% inherent damage + 20% customization bonus.

It should cost 2 adren instead of 5e. Then it would be worth taking.

Dunno, that would just turn it into an adrenaline sink like whirling axe, depriving better attack skills of adrenaline, except it would be overpowered combined with dark fury for constant 1/2 activation spam.
