Rangers can farm alot of different places, the only problem is that 3/4 of the builds used are trapping ones. There is Splinter Barrage (which rits can do too) and Famine builds (solo and duo).
Warriors got a bit more, W/D for UW, W/Rt for UW, W/Mo with triple chop/cyclone and vigorous combo, W/E for Infinate Glads, a Rip'n'Drip combo for bosses and so on... (See tyria solo tour by Witte Was for more info )

probably ranger has the greatest variety of mainstream solo/duo builds.
r/rt splinter barrage hit and run, better as rt/r
r/rt SQ+QZ VwK, better as rt/r
r/e stoneflesh/stonestriker barrager
r/x hit n run green farmer with stuff like apply poison+burning arrow
r/me echo dust trapping
r/mo vigorous spirit live vicariously barrage, bit outdated
r/n toucher
r/d EDA scythe or escape-LR-throw dirt scythe (heket etc), r/w slower equivalent, not especially popular afaik
r/mo famine duo
r/me spirit shackles monk boss soloer, haven't seen in a while
r(/n) oath shot-WD-EoE grawl bomb, very old one
I think the build that really excels at farming the widest variety of areas is probably n/mo 55 SS/SV.

Rangers by far...
You got spirits, expertise, and traps, where the heck could you go wrong?
Sure, Ranger builds are no state of the art 55 build that everyone sees, but that is why I luv em, cause you got to think to farm.
My personal favorite farm spots are R/E Kappa Farming, Hard Mode , Farming Cantha's Rarest R/E style, R/Rit Splinter Barrager, R/Mes Echo Trapper (I can trap Dwayna solo after clearing her mobs) and R/N Toucher (can farm pretty much any green except a few mesmer ones, as long as you clear the mob first).

What build do you use to do that "Farming Cantha's Rarest" with? My ranger is the only character I have left that I did not finish the quest with. I have resorted to 55ing with all monk skills to do it but its a bit slow lol. I messed with some ele builds but it didnt work so well for me as far as speed.

R/E
16 Wilderness
12 Earth
Shockwave/Sandstorm
Tenei's Crystals
Sliver Armor
Stoneflesh Aura
Armor of Earth
Stone Striker
Storm Chaser
Troll Unguent
Take the groups one by one, can't handle a whole mob with their touch skills.

Most ppl are saying rangers, rits, etc..Which i partly agree, but my vote has to go to the ele. They can play support, wipe out mobs nuking with earth, some water, and majorly fire, also able to kill single targets very very fast (air spike?). Blind bots keep melee blinded all the time for great support. Smites, and E/RT healing with the elite master of magic are also very good and fun. But above all else eles have the ability to speed farm or take it slow. They can E/A sliver, DoA E/A PbAoE, or for single target, a variation of the E/A sliver in DoA with shadow of haste and dash for gloom.Another one is using mist form to mass farm melee, and go stoneflesh tank with sandstorm or shockwave which can solo a lot of places. They can even play 55s well to some extent. There are also many other builds one can play as an ele that i can't think of off the top of my head. So in my opinion, the ranger is versatile but can be very boring(not all the time, but still gets boring faster than some other profs) and the rit is fun and all without the limitations of enchants due to weapon spells but the lack of elite choice is the only thing. For instance most of the farming builds use VwK as their elite and its hard to find a new farming build without one. Anywho, w/e your decision is have fun with it.(It *is* just a game).

Your telling me that mixing it up with some barrage, some trapping, some tanking, is boring, while mashing the same keys to solo a smite run is not? Hehe, I don't agree with you there, but elementalist are definitely one of the best farming classes out there. But yeah, it is just a game, so have fun with it, and don't let other peeps tell you what class to play, just do your thing.

Ele, Monk or Warrior without a doubt. Sure Rangers can trap farm, but usually far into campaigns or terribly boring/pointless farms.
