I thought the same thing **grabs tome first**

I myself have gotten ruby's alot on the Kurzick side. Right outside the HZH i've gotten a ruby and an amber chunck.

Actually that character is very lucky, she got 2 greens in a row when i was opening Treasure Chests...I should play her more.

you can also get sapphires and ruby outside of lions arch, from the imps in normal mode, i once got a drop, don't know if i still have the screenshot somewhere in photobucket or imageshak.

edit: yeah i found it :P

nice! the only time a sapphire dropped for me was in FoW Forest on my R/Me ranger

Sapphires and Rubies can drop from anything I think

And what's so good about picking up the tome first? The sapphire is worth way more

Aye, Saphires and Rubies have a small chance of being dropped from anything...Once, before HM was released I might add, Sulmeng the Skull Staff dropped me his staff and a Ruby.

I once got three sapphires in FoW forest runs, on one day. First and only time I've ever had any there...
