Default Ranger questions

Thinking of killing my Ritualist as Rt is not my style and creating a Ranger.

1) What campaign is best for Ranger?

2) Suggest me a good unique bow

3) what Elite should I use (depending on what campaign)

few good answer is enough and after it this can be closed

1. I'd say just go nightfall to get heroes and breeze through the other campaigns. Unless you like the looks of the characters in prop or factions.

2. Elswyth's recurve bow is cheap and easy to find, decent for some builds, has degen though. Or if you have money I'd buy urgoz's.

3. Proph - poison arrow, factions - umm broad head? , NF - Burning arrow (not too far either). And barrage too and can be capped early in NF.

1) there is no best campaign for a ranger. whichever campaign you enjoy the most, go for it. although prophecies does have lots of skill quests.

2)[wiki]Zelnehlun's Longbow[/wiki] good bow if you keep range between you and your enemy, relatively cheap for a unique bow.

3)heres a few:
[skill]Barrage[/skill] good for attacking groups of enemies, but best if used with a zealous bow.
[skill]Melandru's Arrows[/skill] very handy prep for bleeding entire teams.
[skill]Poison Arrow[/skill] excellent cheap alternative to [skill]Apply Poison[/skill]. very fun to use.
[skill]Burning Arrow[/skill] combine this with [skill]Apply Poison[/skill] for the ultimate degen combo.

hope this helped a little. feel free to post any questions you might have.

usually i play barrage(best used with splinter weapon) or use a degen skill (poison arrow is one of nicest around next to burning and mel arrows) and my main bow is a longbow, perf bow mods shouldnt cost more than about 20k along with the bow,and there you go

1) Doesnt matter, personal style+experience
2) For normal playing, every longbow/flatbow will do
3) barrage is for warriors that go ranger. pure dmg spam. Good skill for farming, but no great pve skill.
[skill]punishing shot[/skill] is very sexy, interrupt+dmg and the option to spike with it.
[skill]melandru's shot[/skill] great skill for heavy caster area's. use it with [skill]Marauder's Shot[/skill] for constant dmg.

I would say choose your campaign based on looks as its rather easy to gain travel between any of them, however if you are making a Legendary Survivor ranger as I did picking your campaign is very important. I went with tyria based on looks but I also had another account with a laptop to personally run myself to key locations. I think as far as skills go 80% of areas in normal mode can be easily killed by burning arrow builds but if you venture into hard mode or just harder areas of normal mode I find broad head arrow to be a must just all the time. I do occasionally go trapper with smoke trap for vanquishing as well although I am starting to favor the following build a lot lately.
[skill]Glass Arrows[/skill]
[skill]Triple Shot[/skill]
[skill]Savage Shot[/skill]
[skill]Screaming Shot[/skill]
[skill]Never Rampage Alone[/skill]
[skill]Comfort Animal[/skill]
[skill]Charm Animal[/skill]
[skill]Sunspear Rebirth Signet[/skill]
with something like 13 marksmanship and 15 expertise with 3 beast mastery. I also have max rank sunspear title. I use a Zealous flatbow, 15>50, +30 fortitude, and customized. I find this build does very good damage even in hard mode.

For a ranger, troll unguent, distracting shot, and savage shot should never leave their skill bar. After that, it really depends on your tastes. slogging through Tyria will give you the chance to get a feel for how your ranger works. Pre-Searing can be good for a ranger noob, with the training missions available. If you don't want to slog, go factions, then jump to nightfall and get your heroes for capping. There are also some great elites early on Nightfall.

If you can, for interrupt get a zealous or vampiric flatbow or recurve bow. These offer the best all-around damage/range for the ranger. Salvage the bowstrings from any bows you acquire in leveling up(another reason to do Prophecies), as then you can throw together the type damage bow you want when you get to Amnoon Oasis, the first spot for max bows. Or just go the easy expensive way and buy a green =D.

As for elites, I've fallen for this build lately:

Crippling shot(E)
Splinter Weapon
Winnowing
Distracting shot
Savage shot
Read the wind
troll unguent
Sunspear rebirth signet

This casts a lot of degen and interrupt. With 39 energy the management issues aren't a problem. Crippling shot and Punishing shot are nice for the recharge time and energy cost. BHA is wicked, but is 15E and a tad slow for my taste. As mentioned before, Burning Arrow with Apply Poison is sexy for sharing the degen with the ones you love. You will have fun watching the foes bars go green and drop .
