Default Unsuspecting strike underestimated?

I find it strange that in both pve as in pvp nobody uses unsuspecting strike.
The conditional damage is easy to reach and it gives you a gigantic spike, (i think it gives you the highest damage with daggers). So why don't people use this?

Because offhand-dual-offhand-dual is better then lead-offhand-dual and because it takes to much energy making it worth using only once for each target. If u dont kill ur target with 1 combo then u have to use it again and energy will be a problem.
It could be usefull in a moebius build to start the combo: unsusp strike-exhusting assault-moebius-death blossom. I have to test it.

It's not bad in pve potentially. I've used it with assassin's promise sometimes if I need an extra 100 damage on my chain to ensure kills.

It's pretty conditional but I still use it in pve. I wouldn't say it's condition is easy to meet - random aoe attacks from the rest of your party will bring most enemies below 90% hp. When you do meet it's conditional, it's always at least 100+dmg, which is especially nice against high level enemies. I barely made my sin recently but when I start doin low-end pvp, I might use it there too. In pve I run 16dag 13crit so energy isn't usually a problem.

should make it cost 5energy, and if u hit the bonus (90% + one), u lose 5 energy

alot more ppl would use it then...

That's a really cool idea....similar to Starburst. The condition is somewhat hard to meet and if you have an ele on your team, it becomes nearly impossible to hit somethin with 90%hp. Then it becomes a bit draining when your lead attack costs 10 energy and does a measly 29+dmg.

Agreed. In its present state, Unsuspecting Strike is much too expensive energy-wise for a conditional damage lead attack.

that will be very nice Lead attack to use, felt like offensive of a healing burst will be nice for the skill if ANet want ot encourage the use of lead attack.

Btw I am a PvE sin who use unsuspected strike as lead all the way until the end of each campaign (Abbedon, Shiro and Lich) I often deal the 105dmg lead to my enemy even if I have 2+ ele in the group and I didn't charge in before ele throw their MS or SF.
there are some foe who don't like to stick with their group or who heal to the top of their head before I land the attack on them again

Yea, everyone else pretty much nailed it.

Cost 10, when most Sins pref 5.

Lead attacks are growing less useful.

Good for about 1 (first) hit.

Yup yup. I pref Dagg and Shadow skill anyway

:P

I tend to do all my damage through my mobius/db loop. What with db being a dual attack and hitting about as much as unsuspecting. So for a lead, I use disrupting stab, purely for when I see that my enemy is loading up so big, fat, hefty move.

pingu666, get that into a suggestion thread. That's a really good idea.
