ya that is unlucky. i think ill stick to rezzdoggs method of doing 2 runs and if no ectos then ill go farm other stuff. thanks peeps

hmmm....
What everyone is saying here is beginning to make me wonder: i farm UW in Hard Mode with a 55 necro, aatxes, graspings, smites and coldfires. i get about 2 ectos a run. at least. i'm wondering if that is because of Hard Mode (doubt it, because Anet said Hard Mode only increased the droprate of uncommon grapes and rare golds) or if it is because not too many others farm uw in Hard Mode. anyone got any ideas about this?

ive given up on UW for now. did some more runs and im getting hardly any ectos. plats per hour prob only working out at 2/3. ive gone to FoW rit/mes soloing and shards are dropping

I would say that it was like 1 ecto per run from smites before, and now is something like 1 ecto every 3 runs.
