Default ele/nec

Hi guys
im still quite new and ive been playing an ele/mes for a bit. i started a new necro just to see what they're like and found all the blood magic life drains to be great fun ( siphon, vampiric etc. ), i thought to myself that it would be great coupled with an ele primary for self healing with damage with all the energy available, but looking on the forums could barely find the ele/n mentioned, is it considered a bad combo? what are peoples thoughts on it? i only have prophecies and am looking to pve mostly.

Many thx

ele primary is good for big-high-cost, exhaustion skills, because of the huge energy base. necros dont have to many huge cost spells except minions and you need 16 death magic for them. ele/N can work, but its really not a combo that offerers any advantage,

Depends on what you are trying to do.

If you are using 1 or 2 blood spells for healing, that is fine. If you want to do damage, with blood spells, I'd say no, go N/E then.

Most people will opt for 0 self healing because the Elementalist has very poor self-healing spells, but good damaging spells.

As Coloneh said, E/N doesn't offer any real advantage, however, if you experiment with that combo long enough, maybe you can come up with a good reason this combo should be considered.

Plague Sending/touch is good to get rid of nasty conditions (like Daze).

E/n is good if you like applying weakness for earth conditional spells. It's also got the best anti-physical hexes in the game. Enfeeble/Enfeebling Blood + Insidious Parasite is a good combo for example.

Brainstorm for E/N v1.0

Mark of rodgort + Necrosis
Blind/Blurred Vision + Price of failure
water hex blurred vision/deep freeze/ice spikes + Feast of corruption
Gale + Fetid ground
Virulence
Vile Miasma

Basically E/N builds would hinge on hexes and condition, not so much on damage...

So no, E/N isn't very viable.

Using conjures on a staff wielder isn't advisable, since most of the time you will be casting spells.

Conjures tend to be used on melee and barrage rangers since you weapon will be used most of the time.

Ah, another thread asking about the E/N. The reason you find little to nothing about them is because of this sentiment;

This is the concensus belief of the majority of players. Yet, that isn't the truth. The truth is that with the mix of curses,hexes, and brute force-the E/N can play a very dynamic role. As an MM, the E/N lacks the power and control of the primary necromancer, yet it is possible in a pinch. With the Curses line, the E/N can apply these effectively, but not as effectively as a primary necromancer. This can be said vise versa for the necromancer using elementalist spells as well, but that's just splitting hairs,imo.

The truth is that players believe that primaries are chained to their roles, and don't truely believe that since you know how to run a build, that you neccessarily should run it.

For example:

[skill=card]Blood of The Master[/skill][skill=card]Signet of Lost Souls[/skill][skill=card]Animate Vampiric Horror[/skill][skill=card]Animate Bone Fiend[/skill][skill=card]Animate Flesh Golem[/skill][skill=card]Deathly Swarm[/skill][skill=card]Heal Area[/skill][skill=card]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

This is the basic Minion Master build being currently used. This build is not possible to be used by an elementalist without removing the monk spells and soul reaping signet, while replacing them with elementalist equivalents. Sad to say, their are no replacements for Heal area or Res chant. Yet, the big thing that you will hear about is that since Eles can't get the attribute past 12, it shouldn't be used. Also, the lack of SR's fast recharge of energy was a major point of arguement in the past, but during the SR nerf, the Necro didn't really have soul reaping either, now did they? Weren't they turning to the dreaded GoLE? Hehe, anyway...

[skill=card]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill=card]Aura of Restoration[/skill][skill=card]Liquid Flame[/skill][skill=card]Insidious Parasite[/skill][skill=card]Spiteful Spirit[/skill][skill=card]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill=card]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill=card]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

Now, this build can be ran by either primary, but obviously it is built more for an elementalist than a necromancer. Yet, this build is made custom for spreading the degen, as well as being geared more for having a second elementalist in the party. The force of magic in the game is not just brute force damage or niche play, but subtle and decisive layering and prioritizing of targets in order to better support the team dynamic.

Think about my words.

Despite the Soul Reaping nerf, necro is the only profession that's WORSE off for energy by switching to an Elementalist primary.

So there's no point in going E/N if you mainly want to do necro things.

E/N Would not be impossible in terms of energy management although you would be forced to go with one of the non-element related energy management skills such as Ether Prism, Energy Boon or Master of Magic...and of course Glyph of Lesser Energy...but really if you want to play necro you should just play necro.

If you're interested in blood might I suggest Cultist's Ferver? Perhaps not everyone's favourite skill but it's great when combined with Vampiric Gaze.
