Default Best Place To Farm Dead Swords, Sephis Axes, And Other Rares

ok first of all to anyone who ever got a dead sword in the save the king quest.... grats, now to show all of you up.

build
monk/derv
16 smite
8 earth
10 divine favor
11 protection

this is a 55 set build.

skills

shield of judgment
symbol of wrath
shield of absorption
protective spirit
mystic regeneration
blessed aura
balthazar's aura
essence bond

location
Jokanur digging's

HARD MODE IS A MUST

enter Fahranur, the first city
cast blessed aura, and either essence bond or balthazar's aura
travel west <northwestern route> , across bridge, hang a right(north)
follow the narrow path killing any and all skale along the way
you will see a large mob of skale, you can either kill them<moderately difficult> or pass them by. If you choose to fight them, aggro them all with essence bond balth's aura and blessed aura, also cast port spirit and shield of absorb. as soon as you have aggro cast shield of judgement and symbol of wrath, they should break away, you should no longer need shield of absorb.after killing all the skale, enter the city<west> watch out for the falling stone, it is a instant killer, much like the drill things in sorrow's furnace.
aggro all of the undead at this point, maintain prot spirit and shield of absorb.
cast shield of judgement and symbol of wrath 1 after another, this will kill most of the melee undead, there should only be 2-3 of the 8 melee left. they will die due to shield of absorb. if you got lucky grats, you can always see the weapon in the npc's hand, you will spot a dead sword before it drops.

continue farther into the city, if you no longer see undead, turn around and pick a new route, there are a total of 30-40 undead in the area <there is undead bounty located past the first group> 1 warrior boss <TOMES!> and 1 dervish djiin boss that can all be solo'd with this build

i foudn that if you take another person, your chance of any kind of rare increases < 1 solo run i got nothing, next run i duo'd and we got 2 dead swords, 4 other golds <ancient shields> and uncounted purples
HAVE FUN its well worth it

final note: most drops here are max req 9-13 and inscribable..... best drop i have gotten was a max req 8 sephis axe..... i obtained nearly 200k for that beauty

screenies of a run i did just for you farmers out there.... no dice on the golds but 8 purples is ok i guess

interesting. will try.

EDIT: Not profitable. you take way too long killing random skales along the way, and if you don't, they cripple you and refuse to break aggro.

Just did it... got 2 gold shields . Took 45 minutes so I question whether this is worth it. I'll give it another try to see if I can get a sephis. Thanks for posting this!

Pretty nice. Actually I don't have a clue how I got 45 minutes... This run was 34 minutes and I was afk half the time. Also, you only need to kill 2 groups of skales on the way, so I don't think that's a problem.

I don't even know where that place is....

But I don't see how this can be better than farming the king quest.... Afterall, the spirits in question are right near the entrance... so you can just port out and in each time to reset... Surely that is far more efficient than going through all this every time...

Soti Coto, don't forget that there are people that haven't been there on their monk and there are people that have already done that quest.

I've been doing this since the HM update. NEVER gotten a gold sephis here. Lots of Dead Swords and other crap golds. Interestingly, though, I found that killing that huge group of scales will get you icy and firey bladed axes.

*Virtu-hugs for getting his name right*

I haven't got my Monk there yet.
I haven't got my Monk much of anywhere yet (she is in Marketplace next to Waijun Bazaar, Primary-Quest-wise...)
But if they knew that it was a decent farming spot then why would they have completed the quest already?

Anyhow... I'm getting the feeling that the OP wasn't trying to offer it as an alternative to those who had already completed that quest so much as implying that it was somehow better.

Give up. As soon as hard mode hit, I finished Cantha with my 55.
55 is where the future of farming is, people. Get your monks through the campaigns.

Give what up?
What the heck are you talking (rudely) about?

I haven't progressed my monk because I happen to find my Assassin and Necro to be more fun to play, and certainly haven't ran out of things for them to do.
There are a few places in Cantha that my Necro can 55-farm... a couple of bosses in Melandru's Hope that she can Spirit Shackles farm (and getting Elite Monk Tomes from Byzzr is actually key to the future progression of my monk)... My Assassin is still trying to get Tyrian Grandmaster Cartographer to add to his already obsessive list of titles...

I honestly don't have time to play my monk much. At least I got her to level 20. Most of my other characters have got no further than Tsumei Village!

(Random fact for those who aren't aware: I have a total of 3 characters who aren't Canthan-born: my Necro (prophecies), my Warrior (still in pre-searing) and my Dervish... and I have one of every class except Paragon and Mesmer.)

This requires hard mode to be profitable, no? Therefore you must have beaten the game, thus eliminating the novelty of being able to farm it without having to get very far into the game. Unless i'm mistaken.

I went here the day that hard mode was released hoping that maybe ghostly swords had been released. :P It's a fun farm run, I really like the copperleaf shield skin that drops so often with these guys.

The king's quest is certainly faster, but this is fun and has more variety.

I usually farm this area just for taking a break from other tedious farms. It may not be fast, but its different (in some way at least :P). Plus there are chances for all the skins and items I want, Sephis, blade axes and elite warrior tomes (how cool would a lvl 10 warrior be with all elites :P). At least she'll have something to brag about to her big brother.

Just gave the round a test run and died at the end by accident (Didn't watch the screen), while taking a shot of the loot (Skipped many white weapons)

Not a bad spot, if you only at the beginning of the game and completed the chapter with a diffrent character.
