How would this work? people told me that a W/N wouldent work because the lack of enery i have. Necros start out with 30 right? As a N/W i would focous on DoTs and prob go Sword.... So i would Dot up the Mob and burn them down with my Board and Sword. Would that work? If so how good would that be? I personaly like the idea.

Your armour would be pretty low.
The main reason W/N wouldn't work is because apart from plague touch there's nothing else in the necro line you'd want to use (except certain skills like Grenth's balance for farming but that's another story)
Using a meleemancer is a fairly old idea, but non a popular simply because they don't work as well as regular warriors and that necros are more efficient when they are playing caster roles, rather than melee ones.

Grenth's Balace is also unlinked and also used best in a W/N due to most hp buffs being in Strength.
There's one reason and one only to use a meleemancer: Long duration on Weaken Armor.

but why would anyone want to use such an awful hex in the first place?
meleemancers are bad -- the only time you want N/W is if you run like Riposte, Deadly Riposte, Shield Stance or something for self defense in RA or TA but besides that, you won't really want it, ever.

Weaken armor doesn't belong on anything other than perhaps a team spike build. Standing on the front lines with a spell that has a 3 second cast is just asking for trouble no matter how much armor you have.

N/Ws can work. You gotta see my BS build. But my build is more Vampiric than Swordsmanship because I use spare points left over from Blood Magik and Soul Reaping, and I use a Req 0 green, but N/W can use combos like...
Inflicting weakness with a Curse, and using a hammer. Hammer skills are buffed around weakness.
Or using a Vampiric weapon while causing health degeneration on target foe.
Point is that they go together just fine. Victo did everything just fine.

Go ahead and show us your bullshit build. I'm wondering how it gets around the fact that necromancers have 60 armor and are decimated on the frontline...

k, seeing how a N/W wont work out that well...i was thinking abouting going N/M but i dont want to use minions. SO i was thinking i would focus on Curses, Blood Magic, Smiting, and Throw some points into Death Magic/ Healing. Am i spreaind my self out to much to be effective? I wanna be able to strike more then one mob at once...is monk a good choice to go with if i want to do that, or should i take a diff 2nd?

If you strike out on more than 1 mob, your party may face a team wipe. Over agroing is bad.
Don't spread your attributes too far, you only have 8 skills to use and your equipment may require you to have set minimums. An attribute of 9 is less effective than an attribute of 16 (unless you are talking about break points and minimum duration levels).
Blood, Curse and Soul Reaping is what you may require. Good AoE, Life stealing, and energy re-gain.
People tend to shoot down N/W melee builds because in a PvP environment it isn't good at all. In a PvE environment, yes there are more effective ways to utilize your Necro abilities, but N/W combos can work.
Soul Reaping is for energy re-gain (passive attribute for energy re-gain, Signet of Lost Souls for active energy re-gain).
Curse - enfeebling Blood is a good way to send out good AoE weakness; Suffering is a good way to hex a group with health degen; Feast of Corruption is good when used with Suffering
Blood - Oppresive Gaze is good when used with enfeebling blood for AoE life steal
Hope this info helps.

People wishing to run melee with necro should use N/D. At least that works.

My N takes Mo as second because of the res (forgot the name, but you don't need attrib points). The rest is a commen SS build. So you'll have something that strikes mobs and you have a re-useable res
